This year we have more depth at WR and even TE. Would have been interesting to see what John could have done if he were healthy the entire year.

I think TD only sat out 1 or 2 games. Loville only had 161 yards that year, Hebron just a handful more

Different eras, coaches, offenses and rules. As far as passing yardage and points go, this offense is better than the 1998 offense on paper. That is a statement of fact.

Warner and the 00 Hrams rolled up scores more than we did I think. Their running game was better, but numbers don't lie. 2013 Broncos best offense EVER.

BEST EVER:

1. 2013 BRONCOS
2. 1997 BRONCOS
3. 1998 BRONCOS
4. 00 rams
5. 2012 BRONCOS
6. 98 vikes
7. 94 49ers
8. 84 dolfish
9. Fouts' Bolts
10. 1996 BRONCOS

The best passing offense, sure. The 1998 offense played a very different style and dominated time of possession in a way this year's offense can only dream of. I know that in today's NFL time of possession is lost on many fans, but offenses win by controlling the clock as well as scoring points. The 2013 offense is incredible at one of those. The 1998 offense was incredible at both. That said, the fact that you actually think the Vikings offense was better that year tells me you are utterly clueless on the subject.

I just compared Elways 98 stats to Mannings stat this year.

PM has twice the # of attempts as John did and twice the TD and yardage totals.

I checked out Randal Cunninghams stats from 98. He had the exact same # of attempts as PM at 425 but only had 3,740 yards passing and 34 TDs, that was with Chris Carter and Randy Moss. The game is more wide open now plus with all the penalties instituted vs the D WR's can run across the field and downfield with more ease than back then. DT and Decker would have been knocked out if they ran some of the routes we ran this year back in that age. Plus guys are bigger and faster, look at how big and fast DT, OJ, and Big Deck are!

VIDEO: Marshall Faulk, Michael Irvin and Kurt Warner debate whether the 2013 Denver Broncos offense led by quarterback Peyton Manning is the best offense ever. Click here to watch.
Irvin, Faulk and Warner ... there's a brain trust you can trust. Faulk was no TD, Irvin barely equal to forgotten HOF candidate Rod Smith, and Warner ... have you seen his wife ... what was he thinking?

I don't get how you guys keep ignoring the ball control aspect of '98 offense. That team basically had two defensive units.

I think so ... more balanced, led league in yards and points, all Elway (too much Bubby in 98), and HOF LT Zimmerman. By more balanced I mean 1500 yard TD, preferable in many ways.

It's an all time great offense. This one, statistically, is the all time best. I think this one is probably better, but I'll go to war with either.

Sure. Only people who don't understand the value of a dominant run game beyond points would make that argument, but sure it's "arguable".

You are confusing greatest passing offense (the 2013 Broncos have that hands down) with greatest all-around offense. To be clear, the 1998 offense was the greatest all-around offense in the history of the NFL. Period. You can focus on gaudy passing stats to the exclusion of all else but it's a totally warped perspective. Running the football will never produce the same point totals as passing assuming each is of equal quality.

I don't know how you can honestly say it's so cut and dry. It's not. I THINK the 2013 is better, but it's arguable the 1998 is up there. Both great. Pleasure watching both, but our track meet of an O this year was incredible.

I watched them plenty. I also watched them fall short at home against an Atlanta defense that we subsequently destroyed on a neutral field. The Broncos had the passing ability of the Vikings along with the greatest rushing attack ever. Once again I would direct you toward the idea of all-around offense rather than focusing gaudy passing stats.

Vikings offense was sick, yes, but sick good and bad.

Randall, while blessed with the best physical tools in any QB I've ever seen, was a total head case ... running game just so-so. They screwed a dozen pooches losing to Chris Chandler and Reeves. At home. SB on the line. Oh brother

Moss is 2nd best WR ever in my book ... he and Carter had 130 yards in NFCCG. Combined.

Aga, '98 Vikings, like 2000 Rams and 2013 Broncos, scored like pinball machines.

Seriously, they are the Top 3 offenses I've ever seen
