Default McDaniels a possible option for Browns head coach

Mods Please merge thread. Someone beat me too it.

Quote:
The Cleveland Browns are expected to start over. Again.

NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Sunday that coach Rob Chudzinski likely will be fired after just one season with the team, according to a Browns source. The firing could happen Sunday night, rather than Monday morning.

It's a move nobody saw coming as recently as a few days ago, when it was assumed that Chudzinski was part of a front-office plan to restore a sense of continuity to a franchise that has chewed through coaches like cotton candy since returning to the league in 1999.

Rapoport was told earlier Sunday that team brass had soured on Chudzinski down the stretch because of a lack of effort and accountability on the part of his players. A seven-game losing streak, including a 20-7 loss to Pittsburgh on Sunday to cap a 4-12 season, didn't help.

NFL Media's Albert Breer believes that Penn State's Bill O'Brien and New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels likely would top Cleveland's wish list as candidates to become the team's seventh head coach since '99.

I'm sure changing coaches year after year will help.... I'm sure McDaniels will heal up the Browns ills....

I'll bet Chud is thrilled to get the **** out of there

McDaniels would be the kind of hire they would make for sure. Whisenhunt would be the best choice, a guy that is experienced and took the Cards to a Super Bowl, though I think the Lions would be a better fit for him.

honestly, if i had control of a bottom feeder team like the Browns, my first call to find a new coach is Marty Schottenheimer. Crap in the playoffs, but that dude can build a team.

Think we can talk McKid into trading away Joe Haden for a bag of shiny beads?

Considering the Brown's GM used to be a Belicheat flunky, I am not entirely surprised McDaniels would suddenly be on the Brown's radar.

And it would be a mistake, Cleveland. A huge one.

That idiot with two first round picks again.

I hope Cleveland does it for the LULZ.

Are there any slow, midget corners coming out this year?

In related news, Tim Tebow has decided to hold off on the sportscaster jobs until he hears the outcome of the Browns coaching situation.

Tell the long snapper his job might be in jeopardy.

So let me understand this. They bring in Lombardi who then wishes to anoint Hoyer as a franchise QB. This same GM now wants to fire the current HC and replace him with one of two current or former NE coaches.

This will end well...
