Default Possible Manning Season Records

Peyton Manning has the opportunity to set the all time season passing and Touchdown records this season. With 4 games to go he needs:

--338 yards passing per game to break Brees' record of 5,476

--10 Touchdowns to pass Brady's mark of 50

Will he get these records?

Poll to follow.

Considering the teams we are playing...yeah, he will probably break both. But a lot will depend on what NE does. If they keep winning, then we need to keep the hammer down. If they lose a couple, Manning might not play week 17.

The two Denver games could conceivably be mild, and the two road games are in warm weather locales -- Houston and Chokeland.

This being said, I hope it is frigid and freezing for these two games; get Peyton more acclimated to playing in cold temps for the playoffs.

We'll have to keep pace with New England which means we need to win out until the Patriots drop one. That will mean at least 27 points a game if you are being conservative and thinking we score our low on the year each game. That's almost four TD's a game. So let's round it to four. If you figure some of those will be runs, at least 25%, that means about three, sometimes two. We need two games of 2 passing TD's and two games of three passing TD's - again going off conservative estimates. We can do it. The yardage should come regardless.

Now if the Patriots drop a game and we win game three, you may see Manning play one drive and then sit for the last game, which would impact his total. But right now based on the low for our points scored, it's doable.

I think the TD mark is very likely. The yardage mark seems less so. Though if he maintains his current pace for the season he will break both. To be exact he projects to:

54-55 TDs (54.67)
5500 yards

So yeah...

The only record I hope he breaks is being the first starting QB to ever win a SB with two different teams...

Guess it depends how often New England loses. Denver might not have much to play for the last week, or even 2 of the year. Cold weather in the next two games for Denver, probably effects Peyton's numbers some what as well.

Honestly, don't think he breaks either of them.

Will he tie Jim McMahon's record of 12 straight division wins?

Vince young overachieved in 08' and the titans won the south, so he'd be playing in his mid 40's for that record.

I think key word is "wins".

I'm the total opposite. The way our defense has played, and the way we turn the ball over, I am really solid on the yardage. Less so on the TD's.

He just threw 5 TDs in one game, and he managed 7 to start the season. 10 TDs in four games against mediocre teams almost seems like a given to me.

As per my first post, I mostly agree. Though the Titans and Houston IN Houston may see a drop off in offensive production. I just think with our turnovers and defense not playing so great that we're going to be throwing a lot these last few games. Both are doable, but I am more confident in the yards than the points.

THIS!
I don't care if he breaks any records. Winning the HFA and the games is what I care about , and I'm sure that's what PM is thinking too. Get TO the SB and win it.

With the weather getting cold and the need to have a good running game going in the playoffs, the pass game is going to be somewhat de-featured. On the other hand if the run game does get going, the PA pass game is going to work better and may result in easier pickings for the pass game too.

If NE keeps winning then we must also, and that will keep Manning in the games.
I expect NE to win this week. If they lose it likely will be against Miami in two, or Balt in three weeks, as they are away. Losing both would be ideal, but unlikely. But even if they lose to Miami we still need to win 3 as they can still tie ( and have the tie breaker) if we lose two.

So wins are all that matter. We cannot overlook anyone yet.

Tennessee ( dangerous D)
San Diego ( dangerous O)
Houston ( dangerous D and passable O)
Oakland ( better than expected ....hopefully will have HFA locked up)

There is one other thing...... 13-3 has been a jinx. The Broncos have lost every time they had HFA with that record in the first game.

So win out and go 14-2.

7 games with 4+ touchdowns is also a season record. He's been consistent.

Getting four today was huge, as was New England and KC winning. He needs two TD's in each of his last three games.
