OK, I'll play.

Name ONE coach in the entire history of the NFL that would have a winning record for their career if you took away their best QB and best assistant coaches.

Shanny will get another HC job, no doubt about it. The question is what team will bring him in? I'm not seeing Houston and I at people who think he lands there. If anything, Rick Smith will avoid Shanny like the plague because he knows what an ego Shanny has.

Nah, I'm thinking it's more of a desparate team. A team that's got nothing to lose. How about the faiders part deux?

the redskins had the smallest stadium in the NFL and had no more or less money than any other NFL team so that's a pretty weak excuse. You don't need a HoF QB to win a championship.

nomatter where shanny ends up, he will only confirm the words of his critics.

Are you serious?

Bill Belichick - take away his Brady wins and you have a losing record. Don't even need to take away his best assts.

Parcells - same. take away the Simms wins and you have a losing record. Again, no need to even take away his best assts.

Marv Levy - same. Jim Kelly gone? losing record.

And you answered incorrectly. Take away Rypien or Theismann's wins and he has a losing career record. I don't even have to project what he'd do if you took away his best assistant coaches.

This is too easy.

lol Rypien, whatever! Gibbs won 3 SBs with 3 different QBs and one QB who did little to nothing after winning the SB in Doug Williams. You could ask a much better question like "how did he do it?" Let me answer this for you--a great running game, HoF offensive line and solid defense.

All the "great" coaches needed a great QB.

My point still stands. He was a .500 coach after returning to the NFL. Take away his wins from either Rypien or Theismann and he's a below .500 coach for his career. That was the argument from post one and it's not even debatable.

respectfully, lombardi did NOT have a "great' QB
jim mcmahon, great? sorry.
doug williams, nope.
dilfer?
a great QB just improves a coaches chances and often makes them look smarter than they are.

I never said you needed a great QB to win a single SB. Teams have obviously won SBs without one. I would never argue otherwise.

I said you need a great QB to end your career with a great record. And if you take away the best QB (and best assistant coaches, as you set forth in your argument) from any coaches career record, they won't look so great any more. Shanny is no exception.

my point is he won 3 SBs with 3 different QBs and really, that's all that matters. Also, you bringing up his return to coaching after being out for a long, long time and working under Snyder is really a non-factor. But whatever, I still think Gibbs HC record under Snyder is better than Shanny's overall record under Snyder (might be wrong on that).

lets set aside the QB dynamic for a moment.
has shanny ever coached ANY foortball position other than QB or WR, EVER, college, high school?
the answer is NO !
how are shannys special teams?
what about his defensive influence?
Shanny is always willing to accept all the credit for a great running game, correct/
what has he ever done without TURNER or GIBBS ?
shanny is just a figurehead. who caught lighning in a bottle in 1995. again in 15 years I continue to ask what decent coaching hire has shanny made other than the 3 i mentioned, ?
Now ask your self the same question about guys whio DESERVE to be called great coaches, guys like bill walsh and lombardi and paul Brown

No, you are correct. Gibbs had 2 winning seasons (10, 9 wins) and two losing seasons (5,6 wins). Shannahan has 1 winning (10 wins) and 3 losing (6, 5 and TBD)

Some of this is nonsense - - particularly the part about Shanahan engaging in character assassination of Haynesworth - - but it's getting nastier by the hour.
Interesting read.

Shanny is definitely angling to get canned and wants to get out of dodge. Article mentions that Shanahan wants to coach at Houston, interesting scenario.

snyder should just let shanny sleep in the bed he has made for the rest of the season.

If shanny has ANY clue he will play cousins.

But even if he does, he will be so pre-occupied with proving cousins... my favorite pass junkie will neglect his run game and continue to lose games aided by his worthless special teams and ill equipped defense.
shanny didnt need snyder to prove to me that he was little more than a figurehead HC with the skill level of a QBcoach / OC .

Shannahan has quit. His team quit. They know the players quit. They know Shannahan quit. they know change is coming.

They just don't care anymore. Very similar mindset that the Chiefs had last year when dumpster fire Pioli was running the franchise.
