Art Briles has a great thing going at Baylor, I doubt he leaves.

But yeah, its pathetic. Its almost as if RG3 is running the organization now.

Well I guess if he's under the impression the QB or offense was the only thing that was going to tarnish his image. As Deion Sanders said that defense is hot, huge pile that stinks. Business as usual.

I agree. Also bring Slowick too so Chicago will be a power house to the playoffs!

Explain why? If he is fired, he can write a "tell all" book if he likes. He has 3 weeks to go and should bite his tongue and wait if he wants to put a press release out to save some face so he can get a new gig.

Chicken Dinna!

Cutler Might Get Shanny fired again.....

And I doubt Cutler wants to play for him, or vice versa.

Doubt the Chicago ownership would be interested anyway....they can see what Shanny does to GOOD defenses. Imagine if he & Slowik started with Chicagos!

I agree with a previous poster who said this is shanahan's last stop.

The guy refuses to be just a head coach and I don't see any team giving him the power he craves. Many coaches just don't learn that coach/gm split duty rarely ever works.

At least he can say he won 2 SBs before it got to his head.

Not really catering to RGIII. Briles has won everywhere he has gone and built winners.
Chip Kelly's offense working in the NFL has made others want to find a offensive mind like him. Briles is the closest thing to that. For the type of offense he runs, maybe even better.
Now I doubt this ever happens. Briles is getting Baylor on the right track and competing on a national level.

That's the thing, if he wants to get a new gig, he needs this information out now. If he releases it after he gets fired, he's gonna have that whole, he's "whining because he got fired" narrative. Or whatever else.

This is simply the right move from a PR standpoint, that is if your plans were always to get this story out. Now, Snyder looks like a jackass, not Shanahan (we don't even know who leaked it).

I'm not sure how else to explain it to you guys. I mean, imagine yourself as a HC and you put in all that work during the off season/training camp/pre season with your team, and then ownership says you have to start RG3 week 1. That is completely unfair to EVERYONE involved. It's not like Kirk Cousins sucks here.

And then the whole season goes in the dumps..

Now, we know Shanahan can't put together a defense worth of **** -- but that's a different story.

Do you realize how entitled RG3 must feel if the first thing they will do is go after his college coach?

You cannot tell me that Art Briles, at 58 years old, a college coach whom has never coached at the NFL level... is the absolute best option for the Redskins outside of the fact that he coached RG3.

Redskins need a whole makeover, Briles just fills the same agenda that Snyder has...and that is catering everything to RG3.

Pretty sure I mentioned this a couple of weeks ago that his hands were being tied by RGIII and that any decision having to do with him was not his to make.

I know he knew Snyder was meddlesome, but I dont think he thought he wouldnt be able to insist on personel. Really, he pretty much had to get this out there, and good timing considering how the team layed down against KC.

I think that Minnesota is a spot that Shanny could go that has the pieces he needs. Ponder is pretty mobile, sort of a harder working Jake Plummer that he might be able to do something with. Shaky defense but there is some talent there.

houston is obviously the best fit, but I don't know that they would fire Kubiak only to go with his mentor and a similar system.

The Washington Redskins are expected to pursue Baylor's Art Briles should they fire Mike Shanahan, according to league sources.

Not only are the strugging Redskins (3-10) losing, there also is a fractured relationship between coach Mike Shanahan and ownership. With Shanahan's partnership with quarterback Robert Griffin III also in peril, the club is likely to part with Shanahan, perhaps as soon as Monday. Once that happens, several league sources believe Baylor's Art Briles will be one of their targets.

Briles coached Griffin in college and maintains a strong connection with the QB and his family. While Briles recently agreed to an extension to remain at the school, it doesn't render an a move to the NFL impossible. Briles proved uniquely able to handle Griffin's ego, unique-playing style and health concerns while at Baylor, and also managed Griffin's parents and inner-circle, who have gone public at times -- voicing issues with Shanahan.
So they are going to hire a coach that doesn't have playbook to run a NFL team? Sound like the perfect Skin's move.

Fuel on the flames:

Some of this is nonsense - - particularly the part about Shanahan engaging in character assassination of Haynesworth - - but it's getting nastier by the hour.

shanny is just a medicre head coach who caught lightning in a bottle in 1995 when he hired turner and gibbs to run the O line and RUN game and brought KUBIAK with him from frisco, the guy who actually did all the gameplanning and scripting while shanny played golf on mondays. the broncos drafted a 6th round RB to help BLOCK in the backfield for JFE, and the RESULTS are the only part most bronco fans know about.
yet the RESULTS after these men left the SHANNY regime, dont seem to be enough to convince adoring broncophiles that shanny is , was and will always be, little more than a figurehead.
and now shannys rep is being tarnished by accounts that he is actually not a very nice person, this in DC where there are so many scumbags to choose from , you would think shanny would have an easy time standing out as a good guy.
It has always been an EGO thing with shanny, once very modest as a QB coach / DC, once he started hearing the word genius associated with his name, I guess it all just went to his head.
Since winning 2 superbowls, shannys own ego has always been his albatros, his achillies heal.

excellent.
shanny spent bowlens money like a drunken sailor.
then he went to work for the drunken sailor owner, who did a great job of pissing away his own money."smart football decisions" seems like shannys ego always gets in the way of those important decisions.
