It's called "The Butterfly Effect" in case you're wondering.

From WiseGeek.com:

"The butterfly effect is a term used...to describe how small changes to a seemingly unrelated thing or condition (also known as an initial condition) can affect large, complex systems. The term comes from the suggestion that the flapping of a butterfly's wings in South America could affect the weather in Texas, meaning that the tiniest influence on one part of a system [like Champ Bailey suiting up as a Safety this year] can have a huge effect on another part [like whether Champ goes down for 8 games with an injury...or whether Denver makes it to the Super Bowl]. Taken more broadly, the butterfly effect is a way of describing how, unless all factors can be accounted for, large systems like the weather remain impossible to predict with total accuracy because there are too many unknown variables to track.

Champ was abused in last years afccg. he was abused this season by the jags Blackmon. he's made many a recent probowl by his reputation. I wish he was his former self but he is a liability these days. its one thing for von miller to "play himself into shape" its another thing when a players speed is gone. especially when champ is supposed to cover the other teams best- fastest player.

I'd be surprised if Champ will ever be used as a starting CB again at least.

I still can't believe that he's dead. It doesn't seem real.

I read these forums every day, have for years. Don't flatter yourself. Plus, I was always nice to you. I just think you take this subject to the extremes and it seems like you get pleasure out of Champs declining play.

I sincerely apologize for sharing my opinion.

Totally. Alex got like 3 whole (well covered) completions on him in 30 plays, 23 of which were in pass coverage.

Boy did he ever "go after" Champ.

STILL talking about how I get my pleasure?
I dont hate champ, I just take great joy in slapping the faces of all the blind faith champ supporters who act like he is the greatest human being ever to wear a bronco uniform and telling them to 'snap out of it"
shut down corner
takes away half the field
always shuts down the opponents #1 receiver.
so tired of these rubber nose wearing, clown car occupants spewing their senseless half truths about a guy who has had the luxury of hiding behind his reputation while QBs just abused our other corners and defensive backs.
I have questioned Champs pro-bowl greatnesss ever since the rookie ben rothlesburger played him like a fiddle in the play-offs !
I watched him fall down, repeatedly, like a staged excuse, when burned on double moves, i watched him as he watched himself on the jumbo tron, only to allow a TE catch him at the goal line on an INT return.

Champ is an excellent football player,
I have always said that, always praised his tackling technique as well as his instincts, savvy and ball skills, but...
the over the top praise for this guy I admittedly find nauseating.

so when I have a chance to put champ-a-holics in their place, I do it !

kinda like the cheifs, I am more compelled to rattle their fans than chastize their team.

Here is what we know:
  • Champ rated out as a top cornerback last year
  • Champ got burned several times in our playoff game last year
  • Champ has had nagging injuries the last few years
  • Champ has been very injured this year
  • If he cannot contribute a lot more next year than he did this year he will not be worth what we are paying him

Here is what we do NOT know:
  • Will Champ ever fully recover from this injury or does this spell the end?
  • Can Champ stay healthy anymore?
  • If he gets and stays healthy how well will he play?
  • Is he willing to take a pay-cut if he feels that his skills have significantly have diminished? Would he even want to play at all if this were true?
  • Do the Broncos want him to move to Safety?

I personally feel that if he gets to 100% that he will still be an above average CB. I am more worried whether he can stay healthy. I think it is likely that if he feels he can contribute anywhere on the team, and that the Broncos have decent chance to gain him a ring, that he would switch positions and reduced monies.

But I don't know! No one can know!!
I love hearing other people's opinions about how this might play out whether they agree or disagree with me. But this endless back and forth of "I am right!" then "No you are an idiot I am right" when no one can possibly know is tiresome.

Anyone would have failed in Champs position during the Baltimore game. No one recovers from a head but to the sternum in one on one coverage.

I dont know what we will get from champ, I dont even know if he will play. I dont think champ will have ANY significance tomorrow unless they use him to field punts !
but THURSDAY, we will need him, the chargers will go 4 / 5 wide and we will need 4 guys to cover recievers.
and I FEAR, honestly FEAR that rivers will be lloking for #24 and looking for some long awaited retribution in front of a national audience!

The titans, I remain more concerned about our Ds ability to stop the run and cover the TE. These things are far more important than champs limited contributions tomorrow.
