The argument doesn't presume those things, Chris.

If Denver lost 2 more games, they'd be 12-4, which means NE could still drop another game and still get HFA.

If Denver lost 1 more game, we would be 13-3 and regardless of what NE and KC do, we wouldn't make it out of the AFC Playoffs alive because we are well......13 and ****ing 3. It's a universal truth that we can't win **** with that record.

We're the best team in the NFL, whether that punt hits Carter or not. Sorry you can't see it. I won't even bump this thread on February 3rd.

Focus on right now. 9-2, 1 seed. We cant deal in if's. Loss stung, but it changed nothing, and wont until the next slate of games.

BUT...

'97 we went 6-0. We also went 9-1 before 9-2. The similarities are starting to get creepy (we should've waited till this year to change uni's).

Obviously I'd rather not be 12-4 and a WC, but it would at least bode well on the spookometer scale.

14-2 isn't that outlandish. We're certainly not doomed, and we haven't been "exposed" and our team isn't a "fraud". If I were a pure gambler, my money is still on the Broncos to win the big one.

This game wasn't even about seeding or anything that important, it was about possibly being able to rest our starters a week or two early.

Because AS OF RIGHT NOW it changed nothing? We are still first in the AFC West and still the 1 seed in the conference, with no idea how the next 5 weeks go.

Did half of Bronco fandom lose their minds in the last hour or what?

Not that Denver doesn't have **** to work on. That 3rd quarter was a nightmare. But anyone giving up on a team that, come Monday morning, will still be one of a few Super Bowl favorites, is clearly one of those fans that can only deal with the stress of following their team by assuming and predicting the worse.

It's the guy at the party who says "we're going to lose, I can feel it" 20x an hour. And tonight it happened, so now he's saying "I knew we'd lose, this team may not win again."
A lot of people trying to build rep with these sage insights that are really badly disguised hedging of bets.

If Brady had taken the ball and drove for a TD on the first play in OT, that's another story.

If the Pats held Denver under 10 points, that's being exposed.

If this were a 54-0 blowout, then I'd start screaming FIRE.

From where I'm sitting, Manning held up under pressure just fine. He was on-target when it mattered and had a few drops. Unfortunately the Welker and Carter clown show came to Boston and we didn't get to see the game play out.

To me, the game was about having a 1 game cushion on KC, and being able to take a loss and still have a leg up on home field. Do agree that the rest of the schedule is soft for Denver. The only game that I could see them losing is @KC, and they gave up 41 to San Diego. Hard to see that happening unless both of their pass rushers can go.

We're spoiled right now. When you go 20-1 in your last 21 regular season games, a loss becomes a big deal. In reality it isn't the end of the world, Denver's still in good position, but it does show that this team is vulnerable.

We're still on track for 14-2 but its not the point. This team carries no fear factor in the playoffs...soft underbelly.

It's not even that we lost, next week was and still is far more important. Its the way we did it.

Our problem is mostly mental. We cannot do well with good fortune. The Broncos typically play much better when we are either behind, tied or a little bit ahead at the half and everyone is focused on playing to win in the second half.

When we get a big lead in the first half we almost always give most if not all of it up in the second half trying too hard to rest on our laurels and protect the lead instead of playing always with the pedal to the metal.

This is foremost the coaches fault but the screw ups that help kill us against really good teams at their house like NE, compared to the average teams we can survive and still beat in a game that ends much closer usually than it should due to our idiotic self destructive plays, cannot be tolerated any longer if we aspire to really winning it all.

You have got to get rid of the real morons on the team that don't have the kind of savvy and smarts needed ( which isn't much mind you) to be able to play this game consistently at a fairly high level.

Am looking forward to Fox coming back for real too. JDR is much better when its just defense he is concerned with. Since he took over we have pretty much flamed out and had to hold on in the second half's and squeeze out a win.
luckily because we were the better team for sure. Against tougher competition you need someone willing to play tougher on offense too.

New England?

I'd even be uneasy with KC being honest, them with a 3rd crack at us, we'd lose when not at our sharpest, they're a team that when fully fit you beat by being clinical.

Indy too but not without Wayne.

My favorite stat from DEN vs NE?

Rushing yards.
DEN: 280
NE: 116

See you in the playoffs.
Proof once again you need a COMPLETE game to win....Fox and Del Rio finally got the running game they have been wanting going back to last year...what good did it do...we became predictable and had a ****ty passing offense...not to mention we were schitzo on defense....give me 3 to 1 passing yards to rushing any day...

We already know what Manning & Co. can do through the air. It was good to see they can also do it on the ground.
