85 bears would be interesting. They were so aggressive. I have the complete 85 bears season on DVD transferred from original broadcast on VHS so the quality is terrible. Watching it reminds you just HOW MUCH THE GAME HAS CHANGED. The defense was allowed to lay some serious wood back then.

Still an elite D this year. Easily top 5.

That team would break the record for most personal fouls if they played the broncos today. And then they would wonder why they were asked to play pussified football.

A top 5 defense cannot be out of the top 10 in yards given up per game. Chiefs are like 12th

It'd be a lot harder for them, but it's certainly possible they could hold elite offenses in today's NFL to the mid 20's. It'd just be hard for those teams to win a Super Bowl without a very good offense, with today's rules.

I'd put them in the Top 5. Probably #3, after Carolina and Seattle. Their offense is probably in the mid 20's, which is why it will be hard for them.

Next two weeks should be interesting for KC. Win both games and they certainly would cement themselves as a top tier defense.

It's the strength of their team, but by no means are they the '85 Bears or 2000 Ravens.

It's a solid, above average defense but they can be broken down as Denver showed despite not playing all that well.

if they can't get after the QB or stop the run, you've got to drop them well lower than 6.

IMO, what they have done to all of the 1st time starters, Blane Gabbert, and injuredRomo has really skewed their perception.

do elite defenses let the Bills run all over them knowing that the QB is not a threat to beat them passing the ball?

KC's defense has a long way to go before they crack the top ten.

Next two weeks should give people a better idea about KC's defense. If Rivers and Manning walk away with wins in Arrowhead putting up 20+ points, it'll be clear they aren't as good as originally thought.

The only team to hold the Broncos under 27 points at Mile High during the Manning era was the 2012 Houston Texans(25 points) as the Broncos fell to 1-2 to start the season. Since the shaky start, Manning has been on a tear.

I would definitely rank the Chiefs as a top 10 Defense in the NFL right now. Of course, with any injuries or suspensions (like the Broncos have suffered), that would change.

If not for leading the league in fumbles, especially fumbles in their own red zone, the Broncos may also have a top 10 scoring Defense in the NFL right now. As it stands, the Broncos are 35 points away from cracking the top 10.

Saints D is helped immensely by Drew Brees and the offense.

Bengals D is nowhere near as good now that Geno Atkins is out. Secondary is very suspect as well.

You do know our D scored more points than the Bills offense right?

You do know that defensive/special teams scoring TDs are unsustainable, right?

my list of defenses better than KC:

1. Carolina - flat out ballin.
2. Seattle - best secondary in the league, aggressive, hits hard.
3. SF 49ers - with Willis healthy and Aldon Smith back, look for SF to climb back to the top. They had a rough start to the year, but have given up > 20 in only one game over the past seven; that was in New Orleans.
4. Bengals: even without Geno this team can play. Burflict was awesome last week.
5. Broncos: my thoughts are detailed here.

After that, there isn't a whole lot of difference. Saints, Chiefs, Jets, and Browns are all about even. They are all good defenses but have fatal flaws. If you want to argue Chiefs go next, I could see that, but I could also see Chiefs coming in around 9.

We should learn a lot next week, IMO. They shut down Rivers and the Chargers convincingly, I'd put them around 6.

Sparkies put up 41 points in Mullet land. Nearly 500 yards. Only 1 sack at the end of the game.

Still think the Mullets have an elite Defense?
