Nothing new. If he wants to be complete, he needs it. Do we have to wait 3 more years for that?

They just need to realize you can't have him block a pass rusher 1 on 1, it is a scheme thing.

What really pisses me off... Is not the fact that he got beat. It's the lack of effort that he showed on that. Not heart . Bum.

Thread is comical, Thomas is the best TE we have and it's not close.

Yup. He's been huge for us, and blocking just isn't his forte.

Thomas was good when we had an all pro at lt, and a Multi year starter at rt. with two starters down, it might be time to play the other guys more who will block.

Would not play at TE for me if you can't block.

He was personally responsible for 4 failed 3rd downs...catching a pretty pass over the middle doesn't make up for that.

Hopefully he watches how poorly he man's up in blocking situations.

I was surprised that they left thomas in when he had to block a DE. I know you don't want to tip your hat on a play call but might as well bring Prater or Holliday on that call.

Best pass catching TE no doubt.

Problem with taking Thomas out is that you're completely taking an offensive threat out...and tipping your hand a bit with Dreeson in.

Sharpe was better at catching than blocking too.

Shannon Sharpe was a very crappy blocker for a very long time. OJ shouldn't have been in the game in that situation. Hillman shouldn't have been in the game in that situation. Sounds like a coaching problem.

The sad thing was I don't even think it was a pure pass rusher. I think it was just some blitzing LB'er. I could be wrong but I don't think.

His blocking is weak. Ain't no doubt about it.

It could be many things including his weight and strength. He doesn't have the biggest base in the world.

He'll need to work on all that in the off season.

He sure does need to improve his blocking skills, but it seems to me like everybody is now starting a thread to blame a player for why we lost, or to feel better we lost because...fill in the blank
JT lack of blocking skills has been there all season long, that's not why we lost the game; playcalling, turnovers, dumb penalties, running the ball, defense, etc... played a huge role on the outcome of the game, yes we can throw pass protection in the mix, but I only recalled one play where JT was exposed, most of our pass protection issues were upfront, we're missing our most important starters on the OL; Clady and Franklin, that's a lot to overcome, let alone replace...
On a scale of 1 to 10 and 10 being the least relevant, JT's blocking or lack thereof gets a 10

Ummm, it was a one score game and we had the ball with the colts ****ting themselves when JT got ran over causing the INT and putting the game mostly out of reach.

We hear all offseason how HB's blocking are more important to the offense than them actually carrying the ball. Gotta keep #18 upright. I'm not sure why this doesn't apply to TE. Yes, Thomas is an explosive playmaker and its great to have his skill on the field. The fact remains we've lost two starting OT's. Leaving in a pass catching TE to block on critical plays is just not an option any longer. Our OC wants to be so cute but the goal is to WIN the game (cue big Herm). If this means putting in TE's that can block part of the time effectively, that's what we gotta do. Our TE's were not our weakness last year. They made plenty of plays.
