![]() He's not. His economic policies are largely pro wall street. He's done very little in terms of environmental policy, campaign finance reform, illegal wiretapping and electronic privacy. He's consistently caved to republicans in budget negotiations. He's taken a free market approach to healthcare reform instead of fighting for single payer and he's bombed the **** out of other countries with drone strikes.
I voted for him in 2008 and regret it. Please stop assuming that liberals like Obama. If you want a true liberal look at people like Warren or Sanders. |

![]() But every liberal, at least around here, would still vote for him. There are no liberals around here complaining much about any of those things, so they must find all of that acceptable.

![]() What part of Obama = big-assed ******* government do you not understand.
Government control of your life cradle to the grave. Let the IRS run wild and give them complete control of everything including your healthcare. Eavesdrop and spy on every aspect of daily life and remember all are guilty until proven innocent. Tax Tax Tax Tax, spend spend spend spend, borrow borrow borrow borrow, print print print and keep on printing money. |

![]() Why? Liberal is a good definition for Obama.
He's pro-austerity. He fights for privatization. He believes in the free market. In most sane countries, "liberals" align with conservative parties, or they are the conservative party. Examples: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venstre_%28Denmark%29 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_Party_of_Canada https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberal_Party_of_Norway https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libera...y_of_Australia Unlike every other 1st and 2nd world nation, America does not have a leftist party. We have a choice between capitalism or capitalism with gay rights. In conclusion, **** liberals. Last edited by Blart; 10-10-2013 at 11:54 AM.. |

Or is it the big-government that, fearing rebellion in the 1930's, created social security, unemployment, subsidized housing, and work programs? Just curious if you have an actual problem with the government's size, or if your problem is actually who the government serves. |

![]() Funny thing is that these kids believe that only their guys betray their ideology, while the other team's leaders are all 100% pure representations of the Conservative faith.

![]() Good graphic on why "liberal" is now seen as left, rather than right or center-right:
"Here we compare the policy mood in each state in the early 1960s (hollow dots) and in the early 2000s (solid dots). Higher values indicate a more conservative policy mood. In each instance, the solid dot is to the right of the hollow dot, suggesting that the public’s policy mood has moved in a conservative direction in every state. Furthermore, most of these increases are statistically significant." ![]() http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...all-50-states/ Delaware is now one of the most liberal states, because it has gotten slightly more conservative. |

![]() Disagree with 80% of the OP. It's like the fantasy libertarians live in, where everything you want can happen like turning a light switch. Our Founders built this gov't to have change happen slowly. It's frustrating when things are mostly on your side and not moving like you want, but it's also a framework that built this country to stand in the long haul. If Bernie Sanders was Pres, we wouldn't have single payer. That's not how it works. But there's no doubt this country has moved significantly Left in the past 5 years, on issues from health care to war, to human rights, and that is what matters.

![]() Once again -- the board descends into the swamp of partisan rants --
The bottom line is that we have no true opposition party and have not had one for many years. Both parties are owned by the financial elite. The result is a uni party -- with two wings. Partisan squabbling distracts from the actual problem -- MHG |

![]() No, I know people like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are radical right. I'd much rather vote for an old school conservative (any conservative from the West Wing) than Obama because at least they're drawing conclusions from facts.
