Default Los Angeles Chargers? MNF could see its first blackout in thirteen years!

Those diehard Chargers fans! Their team is decent. Their offense is actually pretty good! They're playing in prime time against one of the best young QBs in the league. Let's face it - they're not winning the division. But, at this point, a wild card is far from being out of the question.

Aaaaand, they're about to get blacked out.

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2013/...olts-blackout/

No Monday Night Football game has been blacked out in more than 13 years.

That streak may be in danger of soon ending.

The Chargers have more than 10,000 general tickets unsold for next Monday's game against the Colts, a team spokesman said Monday. While very rare for a prime-time game not to be broadcast in its local market, the risk is considered possible for San Diego and its greater area, given the scale of tickets still available.

Atlanta was the last market to miss a Monday Night Football game. A regular-season finale between the Falcons and 49ers went unseen to local residents on Jan. 3, 2000. (More at link)

There are no real blackouts anymore. But the game won't be blacked out on TV.

From the team that needed an extension of 24 hours to sell out their playoff home game a half decade ago. I give you the San Diego Chargers.

Maybe Monday is a chance of drizzle and they are staying inside for safe keeping.

What a bunch of panzies. I assume I will be getting another cheap, single ticket for this year's matchup vs. the Broncos.

They'll sell 10,000 before the deadline. Someone will buy them up.

Not from Ticketmaster. I tried to get a ticket to the same game a couple of months ago, and they are requiring you buy a packet of games. This is one more reason they are not selling out; fans of other teams don't want to buy tickets to games they have no interest in.

One word: Scalper

Before the game the last two seasons, I have got a $40 upper and last season a $60 plaza level seat. Minutes before game time.

They already play home games there.... I would not be surprised in the least if he Bills ended up between Toronto and Hamilton when Ralph Wilson's dies... I was at the Titans game last year, I'd say half the people in the stands were wearing Roots sweatshirts and saying "Fitzpatrick sucks, eh?".... Lol.... Poor people of WNY, but Buffalo is a mess...

There are places in upstate New York that are incredible! Heck, just ninety minutes up the Thruway, you have Rochester, which is a great city! And the areas right around Buffalo are some beautiful places. If you've never been there, it's nothing like you would probably expect. It's green, and lush.

But Buffalo? The best thing you can say about Buffalo is that it's not Cleveland. If Hogan still came around, I would look forward to his negative REP about this comment (even though REP was stupid, and he didn't even really know what REP was, and he wasn't sure how to check it, and anyone who cared about REP was an idiot, and - and - and -). So, sorry, Hogan. But Buffalo is the armpit of our great country (Cleveland, being the sphincter).

Yeah, sorry for not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars to go to a game when I have bills to pay.

And blackouts have nothing to do with a team moving these days. I can't believe that people still don't understand the stadium issue here. It's only been going on for 15 years.

going to games for 15 years is like, in the top 5% percentile of chargers fans for the longest tenure of attending games, right?

Sell that poor team to Las Vegas and let us show you how to treat an NFL club - we won't draft/trade away HOF QB's.

I muse at how the Broncos totally dismantled a future HOF QB from the Chargers in place of Phyllis Rivers:

Brees continued his productive play in 2005, as he posted a career high in passing yards with 3,576. Brees also posted an 89.2 rating, 10th best in the NFL. However, in the last game of the 2005 season against the Denver Broncos, Brees tore his labrum while trying to pick up his own fumble after being hit by Broncos safety John Lynch. Denver tackle Gerard Warren hit Brees while he was on the ground, causing the injury. (whoopsie) Brees underwent arthroscopic surgery, performed by Dr. James Andrews, to repair the torn labrum in his right (throwing) shoulder on January 5, 2006. Subsequent reports mentioned additional rotator cuff damage and he also was treated by Dr. Saby Szajowitz to recover and regain muscle movement. He was selected as first alternate to the AFC Pro Bowl team for the 2005 season. He would have played in his second consecutive Pro Bowl due to the injury to starter Carson Palmer, but his own injury dictated that the AFC Pro Bowl roster would have to be filled by second alternate Jake Plummer (Whoopsie).

Morale of the story: Brees wanted as far away from Denver as he possibly could...and low and behold his production increased once he left Sandy Eggo:

I don't rip Charger fans for not going. I'm boycotting NFL games until they let us take backpacks back in, which may be forever. I don't think it makes me any less of a fan than when I was spending a grand a year for my season tickets.
