So what you are saying is ......Manning could even make a former basketball player into a pro-bowler.

That is nothing. Turning former basketball players into pro-bowl Tight Ends is almost a cliche at this point.

Last pick of the first round seems like a pretty good place to take a WR. Jordan Matthews would be nice.

He's having a very good (great?) year. It's time to trade him before the deadline.

To hold onto an actual contributing player in the NFL rather than have draft picks in the future that could become the next Heath Shuler, Curtis Enis or Todd Marinovich is just silly and ill-advised.

I imagine playing with Peyton Manning would be awfully attractive for any free agent WR. Especially when Welker, DT and JT are going to get an awful lot of attention from opposing defenses.

just re-sign the guy. Welker is a rental and once he is gone, there is DT and a whole lot of unknowns. With Decker we know we have a solid possession receiver who can get YAC. sure he has a few WTF moments, but overall he is a very good receiver. I am sick of all these threads and comments making the guy out to be nothing more than a Kevin Kasper or Kircus.

Decker is probably the number 3 receiver right now, but damn what a great guy to have as the number 3. Would love to see him sign as long as there is room to pay WWII, Miller, Thomas, DRC, Knighton etc... Hopefully Manning will be willing to rework ala Tom Brady and the Broncos actually use the money instead of hording it. Also, would hope Champ might be willing to rework next years money as well.

Demaryius Thomas 34 450 13.2 78 4
Wes Welker 31 315 10.2 33 7
Eric Decker 29 427 14.7 61 2
Julius Thomas 27 359 13.3 44 6

E.D is tied for #3 in my mind. That's how incredibly deep we are right now.

Don't see us investing $150 million in our receiver corps on long-term deals. He can take the Brian Hartline discount or gtfo.

Decker is a solid #2.

We can find a solid #2, and I don't want to overpay for him.

Manning makes him look better.

Finally, I think the outlook will change in the future once we unload the $18 million going to Manning and the $14 million going to Bailey. I really think we'll be able to keep this core unit together.

What we're paying for Bailey can be spread across a payraise for Wood, DRC, Harris and Nacho.

What we're paying for Manning can be spread across a payraise for DT, Decker, JT and Beadles.

Pick up Knowshon's roster option next year. After Welker leaves we'll have that additional $6 mil.

We should be fine.

You type that like this is Manning's last year here. Also, he's making 20 mill a year right now.

Signed a five-year, $96 million contract. The deal includes $18 million guaranteed -- Manning's 2012 base salary. The guarantees can rise to $60 million (Manning's 2013-2014 base salaries) if he passes a physical on March 13 of 2013. Manning's fourth year salary becomes guaranteed if on roster at end of year three and his fifth year salary becomes guaranteed if on roster at end of year four. 2013-2014: $20 million, 2015-2016: $19 million, 2017: Free Agent

I like how you guys are calling him a "solid number 2 possession receiver" when he leads our team in targets and yards per catch.

Decker has more tds over last 3 yrs then all but like what 2-3 WR league wide lol. But....you have to wonder how much he would do as a teams number 1 wr. If you get a big FA deal its usually not to be a number 2.

My wife, who loves Decker (wonder why...), said last night after watching the clips of his E! show that we should only resign him if he promises to cut all ties to that station and put an adult lock on his cable box to he can't ever watch that station again.

I've never seen so many people eager to lose a very good player and disrupt team chemistry for quite literally no reason.

What happens if the injury bug hits the recievers? DT goes down or welker. Teams just don't get rid of a contributor at a skill position during a Super Bowl run. I thought about getting something for him if they know he walks, but it's not really a good idea doing something to this offense that's gelling

Its not really eagerness on my part but looking at the FAs Denver has he is not at the top of list of priorities, for me anyway.

Is Decker leaving to the E Channel for good as a reality actor? If not, why so many getting ready to dump him over an assumption? On the other hand, Manning makes WRs into Pro Bowl and HOF caliber players.

I won't take anything away from his current and past receivers but I am not sure how many wideouts/tight ends would NOT want to play for Manning?
