Probably has something to do with us starting 5-0, but I'm feeling a lot more excitement about Von Miller coming back, then anger at him letting the team down.

I wonder how long of an adjustment period it will take for him to be back in game shape. Know that he's probably (hopefully) been taking care of himself, but hard to come in after not playing for 6 games.

He should be in game shape now. He wasn't injured.

Perhaps not as bad as some hyperbole you'll read and hear, but still probably the worst team in the league. Have scored the least, and allowed the second most points.

It's hard to simulate an actual game, without being able to practice.

True. He'll be alright though. He'll mentally be in game shape.

Yes, but I equate that to one feeding the other. Crappy, turnover prone QB play tends to lead to defenses that collapse later in the game.

Gabbert not playing definitely makes them a better team. Henne isn't anything special but at least he can, you know, compete three forward passes without nut kicking himself.

The only Von related countdown for me really is in the offseason when we try to draft/sign a replacement and cover for this clown.

If there's one thing this whole thing has shown is that you can't go into next season with the defense riding on a player with million dollar talent but a ten cent knuckle head.

Problem is fontaine many of these athletes are just that. Young, spoiled, naive, entitled Idiots. You can't just replace them all. At some point you have to learn how to handle them. Then mold them. Something their parents should have done. Do this well and you'll come out on tp in todays NFL. Try and fight this paradigm and you will fail.

I know what you're saying but I don't really buy into handling players long term.

The only way a player is going to change is if he does it himself for himself. You can have a locker room full of leaders and coaches that get it and that may mask the issue with a player like Von, but sooner or later this guy is going to get into trouble again unless he decides to change things himself and not count on others to try and manage him.

I hear his parents are taking turns living with him now. How long is that going to last? This season, offseason, until he signs a new contract and gets paid?

We'll see. The smart move would be to start drafting his replacement.

You don't just draft a replacement for Von Miller. There IS no replacement. It's foolish to think there is. For better or worse, you're going to pay this guy a ton of money and hope that he shapes up. If Dez Bryant can get his **** together, I see no reason that Miller can't.

Yeah, you are not going to often replace a Von Miller... even at the top of a draft. Odds are much lower where Denver is likely to draft. It's always good to have depth, and there is no problem in drafting guys to develop. But they are not likely to be a Von Miller like impact. If you let a Von Miller go, then you have to be thinking of other ways to upgrade the team beyond a dominant pass rusher.

They've got a very physical and stout front 7 that's good inside against the run and a pretty good CB in Blackmon. They don't have sideline to sideline speed but are pretty good tacklers (a helluva lot better than what our D showed).

Gabbert may not even play so that automatically makes them a more competitive team.
Jacksonville is an awful team. They average just under 11 ppg. Let's call a spade a spade they are up there with the 0 and 16 lions.

I tend to agree that it would be wise for the team to protect itself in this regard. Considering they knew about this back during the draft, you'd have to think that they just didn't like Damontre Moore at all.

Elway said they didn't know about it until after the draft.

Look at Eddy Royal, dude was a bust. Disappeared for the last couple years, gets the lung injury in TC and suddenly he realizes that it is a luxury to play in the NFL and ups his play and now he is playing at a much higher level.

Your right everyone has to realize the changes they need to make in their lives, they cannot be told, we all need the "Ah Ha" moment and get it.

Exactly, not only that but he has this season and all of next season before a new deal even needs to be brought up. the next year and a half are the biggest of Von's career. if he can come back, show he has matured and gotten past his mistakes he will be handsomely rewarded. If he doesn't he won't be.

there have been a lot of head cases in recent years who pulled their **** together, i have no doubts that Von van do the same.
