Woodyard might be our defensive mvp after watching this showing.

Wolfe is having an awful time having to play outside so much due to injuries.

Champ turned in a pretty horrid performance banging his rust off.

Duke went from a great surprise to why are you only hitting your own teammates.

And of course injuries and suspensions.

Defense gave up 10 freaking points, forced multiple turnovers and were put in bad situations a few times by our offense.....I'll take it. I don't care who the opponent is.

I'm impressed with this linebacking corp especially. Does anyone even remember that Stuart Bradley is supposed to be the starting MLB? No way Woodyard goes back to the outside. These guys are fast, aggressive hitters who range sideline to sideline supported by a secondary that can cover as well as hit. This is by far the best Denver D I've seen in years, and we are still without Champ and Miller. The Raiders had no ground game other than Pryor on a couple runs, none.

not even the same as having an impact pass rusher taking up a legitimate double team. there will be more opportunities at the passer for everyone once Von is back

This defense has issues even with ppl out. When Henne locks onto Blackmon almost every play and Denver can't figure out a way to take one player out of the game they have talent issues or JDR is too busy tying to secure the USC job

Very Very concerned with this defense when it comes time to play the better teams like next week

It's been Del Rio all the way the last two weeks. The putrid coverages he is calling and his complete lack of accounting for the opposing teams' weapons have been shameful. I too wonder if he's thinking about the USC job. He transformed into Bob Slowik as soon as that job came open.

Our pass D issues didn't just start the last two weeks. It's just gotten worse and been more noticeable.

The issues I'm talking about started over the last two weeks. Before that they allowed other teams some success in the passing game but it wasn't utterly uncontested. It was more due to teams being forced to pass a lot and an inability to generate consistent pressure. The last two weeks we've started playing a lot of zone (which we suck at) or man coverage with big cushions which is resulting in people being open by 3+ yards on a lot of plays. That is new, and I blame Del Rio. He is calling these packages after all.

Injuries and dumb ass elite pass rushers getting suspended has hurt this defense. It has now fully imploded and as I said before they are not winning one on one's with any consistency. The gameplans HAVE changed due to personnel limitations and teams figuring out how simple it is to attack this group of personnel. Unfortunately, they have played even more inconsistent on defense at all levels.

The good news is they can make some corrections and play much better. Way too many mental and physical errors the last few weeks that can get better with a little work and emphasis. I just hope the remaining players react well to putting in a little extra hard work and do not act all stupid like the effort they displayed the last few weeks.

Well there are a handful of guys on here who think the D is fine and they are winning because they are getting 3 plus sacks a game which would lead the league over 16 games. The DL has been getting taken behind the woodshed in obvious passing situations.

Luck had more yards passing against Seattle than Denver. Seattle has a pretty good D and colts scored into the 30s against them. Luck didnt have to go far when scoring. When they had to make drives down the field they were forced to punt. Holliday rewarded the D with a redzone **** up after they forced a punt.

There's obvious problems with the D but they played a little better this week

Denver pukes pts.

To me it's not a matter of yardage. Some play bend but don't break. I don't like that philosophy but it sometimes works in the short term when you lack talent in the secondary.

I don't think that will hurt you vs. teams like KC (defensive teams) in the playoffs but teams like Indi or the Bengals that can be more balanced and have that rare offensive day will...

Your defense is total $3it.

Von (if he keeps himself straight) will help a lot. I do think there's talent there but you need a change.

It seems like Elway forgot what it was like to be Elway...
