Kings get Gaborik with 50 percent salary retain for Frattin (scrub) and 2nd round pick with a conditional third based on if he resigns or the Kings make it to the second round of the playoffs.

Gaborik has been a shell of himself for the last few years. Don't expect him to do much, he's lost his ability to skate.

Well at least McPhee didn't give the farm away this year, and they've opened up room for Kuznetsov, but hopefully this is GMGM's last go round.

Actually, I think Washington probably had the best deadline day of anyone. Montreal did alright, too.

The bottom two lines are crap. They will slide Goc in at 3, alongside Sutter. Stempniak will eventually be there as well. For now, the latter will move up to the first line until Bennett is healthy. 3rd line got stronger.

We still aren't going to win anything of value but they could get to maybe the ECF instead of losing earlier.

Hmm.... Just signed Varly to an extension and now we dealt a 2nd round pick for Reto Berra.
I think Roy wants to rest Varly more next year and to ensure that when Giguere leaves they have someone to step in.

They need defense more than anything, they acquired none. I doubt anything they did changes their dynamic.

giggy had a great game last night. There are concerns on his health. They did say that they wanted a bridge goalie.. until one of the prospects are ready. Dealing a second for a UFA is a bit puzzling maybe they wanted him to get his feet wet for next year.

It's not a popular opinion but I think Colorado's D is a bit underated.

I was hearing that they also wanna build there prospect pool so I doubt we see many trades that use draft pics

EJ,Hejda and Barrie are it. Benoit and others are crap. The scheme Roy uses just mitigates their legend of suck.
We wanted Kulikov from Florida but Tallon kept ****ing around and the deal kept blowing up every time we thought we had him. It has been going on for months.

Unless you think a 4th round pick for a good defenseman but coming off a major leg injury (still out until next week) is a high price, Ducks looking to secure even more power on their D.

"Defenseman Stephane Robidas, once an adversary and now a teammate, practiced with the Ducks for the first time since being acquired from the Dallas Stars on Tuesday for a fourth-round selection (acquired from Washington for Dustin Penner) in the 2014 NHL Draft."

Basically got a D guy for Penner. We are loaded at offense (Penner 6th in scoring for Ducks) and Front Office thought more bulk on Defense is the way to go for the playoffs.

IMO, Robidas is 37 and broke his Tibula bone. Possible risk but at least many games to go to test it out. Penner is going to improve Washington big time.

Adding on to what I said earlier.
Roy and Sakic want to build a specific type of team. They target specific players.
Berra fits the mold of what they want and Allaire has coached him in the past.
They are likely to re-sign him and with him only being 27 he has many years ahead of him and it will allow us to have another potentially tradeable asset in the future.

Absolutely stole this game against Anaheim.

The Pens played like absolute ****...just like they did against Chicago and San Jose. This is why I was so against trading big assets for Kesler...he isn't going to singlehandedly fix their problems and they will get exposed against strong teams either way. Happy to rob John of a win, but we played like dog**** again. Should have lost by 3 goals.

I know. Hardly any shots on goal. Hiller has been awful at shootouts this season. History is not on the Ducks side for making shootout goals either. Luckily, we have not been in too many shootout situations.

Good news is Ducks keep getting points.

SoCal, you didn't go?

Yup, the refs today were trying to get the Pens back in it. No powerplays for 2 periods and missed calls. Then the Pens were blatantly offside when the Pens almost tied it with like 6 seconds left. Oh well. I almost had a heart attack today lol.

We need to get a lot healthier quickly....but even the injuries don't excuse what happened the last two games. Actually, most games since the break we've been clearly outshot. Bylsma is getting worked almost every game.

Par for the course.
