Can always upgrade through a trade or two.

and it is notoriously hard to find competent defensemen at the deadline anyway. you have to way overpay for marginal vets. but damn were we atrocious defensively against the Kings. after watching Canada in the Olympics that kind of defense nearly made me physically ill.

Considering the demands of Montreal for Gorges and Markov I want no part of the Avs dealing for a D man.

D struggling tonight. May have to go rest of reg season without Martin and Letang. I'd be surprised to see Letang before the fall.

He's doing ok....but was better before he got hurt a couple months ago. He hasn't been quite as solid since that point.

At this moment, Olli Maatta is the Pens best healthy defenseman, and he's 19 and a rookie. Second best is Niskanen.

Orpik is in steep decline, Letang is out long term with the stroke, Martin is out another 4-6 weeks. Martin, when healthy, is an absolute rock, but he's been injured multiple times this year.

The Pens D is still another year or so away from being good.

When Pouliot, Harrington and Dumolin are up next year we will start to be really good on the backend, but they cannot win anything of value this year.

Apparently the Pens are after Kesler. This is dumb. This team isn't going to win it with or without him. No need to sacrifice Sutter, a high pick and a prospect. We can't waste assets every year. You roll with what you got. Stop ****ing wasting assets. They aren't going to win **** when their best defenseman is a 19 year old. Just accept it and move on. All I ask is Sid stay healthy for 20 more games so he can win those 3 awards. Anything beyond that and maybe a first round win is gravy for this team. They don't have it and it's obvious.

If the game is on the weekend I might, if tickets are available.

It's not a bad attitude, I know this team pretty well. I've also seen us throw away a lot of assets the last few years trying to nab some veteran piece and it failing. Just roll with what you got. This team is going to have to work its ass off just to get back to the Eastern Conf final much less the Stanley Cup Finals. They are a very overrated 1 seed given the health of the team and just their general tendencies.

I think the Kings will stand pat given their cap constraints buuuut this is interesting...

Basically Buffalo gets half our draft picks. They already have our second.

Loungo goes back to Florida in a trade.
Penner to the Caps for a 4th round pick.

Please God, please let the Canucks never fire Gillis. It is so beauty watching their destruction. It is like watching Feaster kill Calgary.

Avs have been getting the better of the Blackhawks this year. Just 1 point back of them now. Never dreamed they'd be in the division title race this year.

Big 4 points for the avs tonight. Tyson Barrie is becoming very good... compared to shattenkirk Tyson's gaining in there...also has less games

Barrie is cementing himself as a piece of this franchise's future.
It still shocks me how badly some Avs fans wanted to deal him earlier on in the season.

The Avs D will be very good in 2-3 years once Siemens,Bigras and Elliot get it going. We need a top 4 guy badly added to that though.

Hejda is not getting younger.

Nathan MacKinnon ties the record for 18-year olds with 12 consecutive games scoring a point. Now tied with some guy named Gretzky.

Marcel Goc to PIT for a couple mid round picks.

Might also get Legwand.

Don't give up big assets Ray, its not going to make a difference.
