That was clutch penalty killing. Goaltending has been outstanding as always.

I love Landeskog. He took over the next shift after the caps tied it up; that was all him.

Mcphee should take notes about drafting high character guys with talent rather than soft, spineless players like Marcus Johansson Speaking of Johansson, nice pathetic effort by him on the Parenteau goal. Way to really work hard defending behind the net.

he was the avs best player last year and so far again this year. Before the 2012 season he got involved in an off-season program with Cindy Crosby

Ducks only team to be undefeated at home. 8-0 after taking out the Canucks 3 to 1. This game had no Getzlaf or Hiller in goal. Not too shabby and #1 in the NHL.

The Avs are better on a points per game basis (1.75 to 1.63) so.. there

after we gave that home opener to the Avs, we have been on it. I thought the D would be suspect at the beginning of the season but they have been on fire. Can't wait when the Avs come to Anaheim. Maybe we can have the coaches go at it hard this time around.

He has a legit coach who actually schemes offensive plays instead of telling his guys to dump the puck and then chase it into the zone.
Thank God the stupid didn't stick. Sacco was a mo-ron.

It doesn't always work out either. Look at the Oilers. Three straight #1 picks and they're still looking forward to the next one. The Avs got #3, #2, and #1 in alternate years and I doubt there's any GM in the league who wouldn't take the Avs forwards over the Oilers.

Yep, you are both right. Caps went through the same thing and got Ovechkin, Backstrom and Alzner out of it all. Green was late round so excluding him.

The thing is you had better have the right people in charge. Mcphee chooses spineless players when you desperately need character and value in the late rounds.

The Oilers are also a mess because they draft the same, soft high end talent type player (Yakupov, Ryan NH, Hall, etc.). Only one really tough is Eberle but he can only do so much given his size.

Avs have a great mix. Landeskog, Duchene, McKinnon as your key pieces is tremendous. Also, I always thought Varlamov was the best of the caps 3 goalies.

It pays to have Sakic and Roy in charge now, I feel pretty confident about the Avs chances these next few years.

I know there are some games at hand and taking nothing away from the Avs. The whole Western division is killing it in the NHL.
