They also had no plans to re-sign Downie and they plan to move to a more traditional top 6 and bottom 6 rather than the current fluidic one they use.

Downie got in a fight in the Philadelphia game (among about a million other people) and went to the hospital. Guess we won the trade in the short term at least.

Its being speculated that he may have had his orbital bone broken. well find out soon enough. Tough break. Emery deserves a lengthy suspension and the ref needs to be canned. Player safety?

WTF Varly...

Nice scrap by GL I wonder if he had enough chirping from the other players on varly ... interesting for sure

Yeah, definitely agree about Emery. He needs to sit down for double digits, and that ref needs to be severely reprimanded for letting that go on like that. For those who missed it...

Note that before this video picks up, Holtby was trying to just stay away from Emery, and Emery grabbed him and started swinging. This was not a consensual fight by any means.

Depending on what was said, it may have been a very savvy move. We'll never know, but if it was **** about Varly and the team is 100% on his side, then Landy going after guys probably won him a lot of credibility in the locker room just like Roy pushing the glass down.

Didn't get to see Avs game but undefeated on the road speaks for itself.

Man oh man is philly a bad, bad team. They got what they deserved with Downie concussion and Lecavalier getting wrecked in addition to Emery most likely receiving suspension.

Heard on radio NHL is not happy about the clown show from the flyers last night. "Embarrassed"

Reports are that Emery won't get suspended.

Which is ****. At least let Holtby get his gear off first if you're going to fight him.

Yep, the NHL is honestly the dumbest professional league when it comes to operations/discipline. I mean this just makes the league look really bad and feeds into the whole mockery and stereotypes you always see.

Fine, they don't want to suspend him. Now I expect goalies (and I hope Holtby does this too) to skate down to the other end and start beating on the opposing goalie.

It's all fair game now, how are you going to suspend someone after not suspending Emery, a jackass with a history no less.

to me the ref is the biggest culprit there. emery is basically just beating the **** out of that guy for like three straight minutes and the ref does nothing.

Downie didn't deserve it though... he goes from a young, up and coming red hot team on top of the league to a team in disarray at the bottom and gets concussed in a fight in his first game.... brutal break for him..

Downie was protecting his teammate and doing his job. His fight had nothing to do with the Line brawl that happened later. Unfortunate what happened to him but he didn't "deserve it" that's just silly

I agree that he should be suspended.
But at the same time. He beat the b**** out of Holtby.

That was an intense game. Montreal really brought it. After they tied it it felt like they possibly were going to pull away but we held on closed the deal. We've been really good at finishing. Last game was the only game all year we didn't close an opponent out in regulation.

what a great night for the franchise. 52 goes into the rafters on Hockey Night in Canada against the Canadians, and in front of Ray Bourque, Alexi Gusarov, and Peter Forsberg.
