Default Terrific Defense Write-up: MHR

Special props to Bronco Mike. This is one of the best write-ups I've seen in a while.

Default Punt return or defense?

Wow...don't know if (outside of the prevent defense) I've seen a safety play that far back. Looks like he is ready for a punt return.

Our "D" has played very good fundamentally sound defense this year, but the best the D has going for it right now is how much Peyton and the O are on the field moving the chains.

Took this pic from the article:

^ what's cool about this formation/package and how often we use it is that it's essentially a base 43 with Chris Harris functioning as the SAM backer.

Is there anything he can't do?

Yeah, gotta love that formation in particular.

Stick Von in there instead of Ayers and damn, that's pretty exciting.

I assume that's whose role he'd take?

I really hope JDR sticks around for a few years. I doubt it happens, but I hope it does. Great read.

I wonder how much of this will stay the same once Miller and Champ come back.

THAT was awesome. It's great that most teams just aren't running the ball all that well to take advantage of a lighter formation behind the DL.

I think the key to the whole thing is that we have a bunch of really good tacklers. It's really stood out for me these first two games, especially compared to some other teams I've watched.

And our heavy D-Line is crushing any runs between the tackles.

I love how stout our heavy D has been against the run. Gives me tingly feelings in naughty places.
