He didn't quit. He was poor at it but the only thing he missed was the final two drills.

Now this intrigues me as I have thought for some time that Mettenberger,Morris,Thomas and Carr if he fell to the 2nd(which is not going to happen now) would be QB targets for us.
Morris and Thomas are frustrating as hell because they have elite talent but never played up to it at a consistent pace.

Appreciate you sharing the list, MUG. Interesting that you have Ward ranked higher than Pryor. Any particular reason?

Yes, and not only Ward, but Deone Bucannon as well. I don't see it with Pryor. I know he's a draftnik darling, but I watch him play, and I see a good, solid intimidating SS. He's not a great athlete, he's not a ballhawk, he played in a lackluster conference, but the main thing is that he plays a role, and it's his only role, that the NFL is trying to take out of the game. Ward is a FS with amazing ball and coverage skills. That's far more valuable in the modern NFL. Bucannon, despite seemingly everyone being wrong on this, is a FS with amazing ball skills, solid coverage skills, amazing athleticism, and plays the run and hits even harder than Pryor does.

I think Pryor is a fine prospect, mid-2nd to early 3rd round range, but I can't for the life of me understand why people are putting him in the Top 15. Clinton-Dix I can understand because he's an eraser with amazing field coverage, but that's not Pryor. Pryor is just an enforcer that happened to measure in several inches smaller than expected. The best thing people say about Pryor is that he doesn't look good in drills but he's a gamer. Ok. The other three safeties I have rated higher look good in drills, all can be dynamite against the passing game, and are gamers as well.

Seriously, this guy was a Top 3 overall recruit right? What happened to him at Miami? I know he came out recently and said some of his suspensions were because he's addicted to Marijuana or some such nonsense. Did weed really ruin this guy's college career or is he just a giant p***Y?

The latter. Weed is just a symptom. He always got in trouble for stupid **** and isnt motivated. He doesnt like to work in the weight room so his strength numbers suck for a guy of his frame. He doesnt really care about football. He was the best OL recruit when he came out and people said stupid **** like "his floor is Ogden". He showed flashes of sheer dominance like against Bjorn Werner but he never even made it to LT. Always a RT. Just didnt develop on or off the field.

Not just top 3. He was almost universally lauded as the #1 recruit in his class.
He was supposed to be a franchise LT from day one on campus.

I hadn't been looking at any DL up till now. I didn't rate dl as a serious need.
I did look at Nix and Tuitt. Nobody else. Finally got around to some others.
There is a kid who caught my eye. Marcus Smith DE/OLB from Louisville. He is an interesting late round prospect. He is a heck of an athlete. All I've seen on him are some high-light tapes but he looks like he has some serious sick-um in him. If Wolf, Smith, McCrey, and Von have recovery problems he might fit right in.

Smith will be off the board by the end of the 3rd round and maybe even the 2nd round. A lot of teams like the look of him in a 3-4 OLB or as a LEO in a 4-3. Personally dont think he's a fit for us, unless you're dumping Von Miller.

Kyle Fuller to visit Broncos
Quote:
Fuller won’t be lacking for possible landing spots. He has had private workouts with the Colts and Panthers already and has lined up a visit with the Colts in Indianapolis. The Bears, Bengals, Raiders, Jets and Broncos are also on his list of visits and every team on that list could benefit from the addition of a talented young corner.
I cannot tell you how happy this makes me.

You may be right about this. He is a Miller Clone. He fits as a rush olb not so much as a pure DE. But I'm a little concerned about our DE's Wolf ?? Von real late in the season injury? Smith and McCrey have had plenty of time to recover but nothing is for certain on these guys IMO.
Everything I've heard is positive, that can't be a good sign.

I view him as a 3rd round flier, so I just took him off my board altogether. I think he's going to be a massive bust because he'll be over-drafted and forced to play too soon. The guy is a mess as a QB, he's a more accurate Tebow, but with a tiny body, and I think he's going to get KO'd early while scrambling around. I greatly enjoy watching him play. I just don't want to be the guy that stakes his career on drafting him early.

Unless Ha-Ha falls or we fall in love with Ward(which I would have absolutely no problem with) then I do not see a S getting taken in the first.
CB or LB would be a logical choice. The real question is will they pop a OG or pass and move some people.

In this deep draft, with everyone wanting to move back? 31 and next year's #1 would get us into the Top 10 easily, maybe even top 5. 31 and this years #2 would probably get us into the Top 15.

I hope we move back in this draft and acquire some picks.

The good thing is that their isn't a glaring hole anywhere on the starting roster, where we aren't in a good position to acquire more picks..

Offense is set except for maybe a true change of pace RB, WR depth, and an interior OL. Fortunately for us this draft is deep at change of pace type RBs, especially when projected value has many as mid round picks. WR is deep and there will be plenty of candidates who could play LG.

I expect competition all over the line, and doubt a rookie would necessarily beat out the likes of Man Ram, Montgomery, Franklin, Clark, maybe even Painter. Not to mention trading back can still land you a good guard prospect with the first pick we have of you disagree.

Your starting WRs are set, we are looking for an eventual #2 type WR. As Sanders can play inside if we don't retain Welker. Plenty of good middle round prospects to fill that void.

As for RB, I really liked what I saw from Ball. It's his job to lose. Our front office is big on CJ Anderson, so he may have a small role for himself. And Hillman is on the hot seat, and a true change of pace back could be drafted to bring some explosive ability from our back field. Plus a PFM system takes time to master, so a rookie RB would only need to make an impact when he touches the ball in limited opportunities, how about someone who can take it the distance from anywhere.

On defense, I see that being similar to the offense. We have starters everywhere, but competition and depth is needed. Or I see role players being needed.

We need a future starter at CB, someone who has the physical tools but maybe needs to be refined. I'm of the belief a rookie would have a hard time beating out Talib or Harris, even Webster for that matter, who I think is unfairly criticized around here. A middle round pick on a developmental type CB is all we need. Someone who can play outside, but doesn't have to do so from Day 1.

I see FS as an area where we need serious competition. A player who can come in and push Moore, assuming he has recovered and is back to form. This player can also be someone with higher upside but is not quiet ready to start day one.

I don't see MLB as this first round force a pick issue. I think Irving can handle run downs, I am more concerned with a subpackage LB, because unless we bring Ward down as a LB is subpackages, we don't have a NLB outside of Trevethan. I see plenty of Middle rounder types who can come contribute in subpackages.

On the DLine, I could see a pick for another DT, since Vickerson and Knighton are free agents after this year. I could see another well rounded DE being added to the mix, but with Ware, Miller, Wolfe, Malik, Q, McCray, we have a nice mix of veterans and young players with upside.

I truly believe our best value is to trade bag and real bolster long term talent to this team.
