Just out of curiosity, do we know for SURE he was purchasing a gun? My coworker's husband works at the range where he was arrested. ..isn't it a possibility that he already OWNED a firearm and was there to shoot?

They don't run background checks to shoot but on the other hand WTF does it matter if he was buying a gun. He has every right to buy a gun or a hundred guns if he wants. What a bunch of Nancy girls.... Von is buying a gun, Oh My!

Getting rid of the military draft was a big mistake. BIG MISTAKE. !

An arrest document shows the Colorado Bureau of Investigation notified deputies that Miller was at the store. CBI conducts criminal background checks on people purchasing firearms, raising the strong possibility that Miller was flagged for the arrest warrant when he tried to buy a gun.
Seems likely, Boobs.

Thanks for the info Buff. Baja, I could give two ****s if he has a basement full of guns...my point was that he might have been there shooting something he owned, and an officer (or patron, or whoever) might have recognized him. My reason for posting that comment, is that it doesn't matter WHY he was there; I was curious to see exactly HOW they knew he was there, and if it was in fact due to the purchase of a gun or by random coincidence.

Casey's link sheds a little more light on it.

How can he do that when he just took up the Front Office Baby sitter job? He collects keys, checks breath for alcohol and then monitors their behavior.

Anyone who thinks this kid is a responsible adult is an idiot. That said, nothing he has done so far makes me think he's anything other than immature. I had plenty of friends that got into this kind of trouble back in the day. All of them were good guys. I tend to think Miller is in the same boat. Not to say he doesn't need to smarten up, but right now I'm not seeing anything to really freak out about. He still hasn't done anything even remotely as bad as what two of our personnel heads did this summer, and those are men in their 40s.

Ya because a secretive professional army like Blackwater is a better plan than having every red blooded American serving his /her country and learning among other things how to use fire arms is a bad thing.

I'm confused are you advocating mandatory service or a draft with perpetual war? Also ther "hers" are still not eligible.

Really, am I the only one who thinks that's an issue?

Does he really need a ****ing gun What good is going to come out of that?
Nothing wrong with him having a gun. Now he needs to be responsible for his petty tickets and not let them turn into something larger than what they should be.

This really is depressing. Keep your **** together enough to keep it out of the headlines. It's not that difficult.

Can't really choose either way though...it's an all or nothing thing. And anyone saying that it is bad for him to be buying a gun the legal way and that having any impact on his appeal, I would like to know why. Is it just that guns are scary and bad or you're afraid of him being stupid with it?

Not trying to turn this into a 2nd amendment debate or anything but as a supporter of gun rights and responsible use, that irks me a little to hear.

I advocate every American (without exception) serve 2 years in the military. They can receive training is a variety of skills not all necessarily war related, the trades for example and some of the service time could be spent on domestic projects and public works. A standing army does not necessarily mean engaged in war all the time rather it is to be prepared for national defense. I do not think a professional army is a good idea for a free nation that wants to remain free. Much better to have a core of professionals with a constantly rotating population of soldiers from the general citizenry.

I advocate gun safety and training begin in the schools alongside sex education and for the very same principles. Ignorance of how to use the equipment can devastate lives.

No, I get you...really I just was saying the private military aspect of things is just a byproduct of some things you are for.

The rest of my post wasn't directed at you

This x 100 but it won't ever happen. Growing up in the midwest, as soon as I could physically handle a gun my dad put me through hunter safety classes and we learned early on to respect weapons and appreciate them. None of us have had an issue, and it's something I will pass on to all 4 of my daughters.
