Seems to me they wanted to roll with Walton all along. Thinking if there is a set back we have Koppens phone number assuming no team will pick him up In the offseason. Ramirez IMO was only looked at as depth there and put in to see what he can do at C. You're right Koppen was a back up plan all along. No one has a crystal ball on what Walton was going to do, but ignoring the position through the months kind of bit them in the ass. Koppen isn't exactly a great C but is familiar with the offense. I would've chosen a different back up plan is all. Either through the draft or FA. There were some of us who were concerned about this position but mostly got overlooked cause it wasn't an issue in alot of people's eyes. It's not a sexy position and I'm hoping the guards can mask a deficiency there. Preseason still has to play out and who knows if another team is going to cut a decent one. Hard to have 11 excellent players. With the way this offense looks I'm a little eased at having 10 excellent ones.

Well, if you guys sign him, I'd put a FB in the backfield at all times because Ngata is gonna eat him alive week 1.

He destroyed Lilja last year. Just owned him all game long.

I'm so excited at the thought of Ramirez being center that I just put $2k on a Super Bowl win....

Ngata seems to do that no matter who is on the other side.

BAD idea ... Vasquez is a right guard, a well-paid 26 year-old, potentially dominant RG. Imo you don't mess with that.

Center though, this is a real problem. No way is Lilja the answer. Andre Gurode is the size they like now, he might have a few games left, but the stupid Raiders signed him last week.

So this is it?:
Andre Gurode (Signed w/ Raiders)
Rex Hadnot
Jeff Faine
Eugene Amano
Jason Brown
Jamaal Jackson
Antoine Caldwell

And where's Bacchus? Few weeks ago I asked kupesdad how Chris felt about center, whether he'd played the position. Bacchus reps me, "Such a dumb question, don't waste his time, you make us all look bad!"

I guarantee you that report was bogus. I'm sure it was just someone who saw Steve Vallos taking snaps, and was like "foreign sounding name with a V. Must be Vasquez."

I know it's the orangemane way to fear the sky is falling but Ramirez showed exactly the kind of improvement in one season that OL coaches look for and I would have been comfortable going into this season with him at Guard.

At Center though? That's a whole different question and it's only prudent the team is pursuing other options like Lilja who most likely comes back for another season.
Yeah, I don't like how the Mane tears people down.

HAHA I did. I don't think that was me. You better get a screen shot of that.

We all look like idiots anyway. You must be paraphrasing.

Ramirez is far from a bad player and C is (MORE OFTEN THAN NOT) the least physically demanding spot on the line. Most teams roll the majority of their protections to the left, which puts the RG as the last 1-on-1 position.

Generally speaking, OL value is:

LT
RT
RG
LG/C

We lost a backup. It definitely sucks considering he's solid depth, but really, who cares?

Listen to ESPN we just lost a HOF player that can't be replaced.

I took very minor liberties, more of an artistic license really.

Careful, you can get your ass kicked like that ... ask any of the guys who've been around here awhile, you do NOT want to screw with me.

Right there was your first mistake ... correcting me like I was your b**** or something.

So I rep you, "Hey Skippy! If I want you're frickin' opinion I'll spam it out of you!"

And instead of learning his lesson, Jim "Mr. Magoo" Bacchus blindly stepped in it even deeper ....

I'm doin' a slow burn over here ...

On one hand, you got a beatin' coming ... but on the other hand you signed up in the middle of the Tebow win streak, so you probably have enough problems as it is.

KC fans are laughing at this. Talking about how Poe is going to have a career game against him. That should be like two tackles.

Rex Hadnot would've been a better choice.

As others have pointed out, Lilja rated out favorably on PFF last year. But, he is coming off surgeries. And was in retirement mode, so who knows his fitness.

But also, a guy with a repertoire with Peyton, and who has proven he can play center reliably. Both big positives given current situation, even if Ramirez proves legit.

KC fans think hiring Andy Reid will get them to a superbowl.
they also thought Ricky Stanzi and Matt Cassel would eventually be franchise QB's.

basically, i don't give two ****s what KFC fans think.

Again, this backup talk is nowhere else to be found.

As I posted earlier from a DP article, he was not the backup.

Going to need something more substantial than fan camp reports.

...How about from the Head Coach himself?

"Manny Ramirez is our starting center, and has been all offseason," Broncos coach John Fox said.

it was said all off season that the coaches were rotating young guys into the starting line up to get them reps. Fox saying that means nothing.
