Damn it. Was just telling someone last night there's no way Ball makes the team.

Should be interesting to see how CJ comes back from the injury. I imagine we'll put him on IR and bring him back next season.

I still think Ball could be the odd man out.

Hester can play FB while offering everything Ball does as a runner, I'd be surprised if Lance sticks barring more injuries.

why injury settle with a guy when he might be able to come back and help contribute to the team? seriously no upside to cutting him.

Tom Nalen‏@TomNalen4m
cj anderson out for 6 weeks, per jeff legwold. not sure what the broncos will do with him. pup and then practice squad?

Question - he can't go on PUP now that he's been practicing, correct? They could IR him, IR designated for return, or cut him and hope he clears waivers and sign him to the PS. Or just hold onto him on the 53, but that seems unlikely.

Yeah I didn't think he could start the season on PUP if he practiced. I'm sure someone on here knows the answer.

Preseason PUP[edit source | editbeta]

A player who, as a result of football-related injuries, is unable to take part in training camp practices may be assigned to the preseason PUP list. Players can be moved off the PUP list to the active roster at any time, even after one practice. A player cannot be placed on the PUP list, however, once he has taken the field for a practice, even if only for a few minutes.

Regular-Season PUP[edit source | editbeta]

A player who finishes the preseason still on the PUP list can then be placed on the regular-season PUP list. Such players must sit out the first six games their team plays. At that point, teams have a three-week window in which to allow the player to begin practicing; from the day the player begins practicing, teams have an additional three-week window in which to decide whether to activate the player to the 53-man roster. If either of those deadlines pass, the player must remain on the PUP list for the remainder of the season.[1]

Yeah he can't go on PUP because he practiced. They could keep him and just work him back in. 6 weeks is really just three weeks of the reg season. If they really liked what they saw they could keep him. They could IR to return for the playoffs, but that seems unlikely. IR would keep him 'til next year. Fox doesn't like to play his rookies and this would fit that mold.

If the six week timetable is right, that means he could come back for most of the season. The question becomes was he far enough along to be worth it to bring back, or at the very least, contributing enough on special teams to help?

Relatively good news on #Broncos RB C.J. Anderson. It's an MCL sprain, not an ACL tear. 2-4 weeks

He's Momo

So what the hell is he screaming about the big baby.

Manning made it sound like they carried him and his leg in on separate carts.

Yeah, but you still have the same dilemma: Keep him on the roster based on one game against 3rd stringers, cut him and hope he clears, or IR.

Still gonna be tough to make the team being out the rest of preseason.

Man I hope they see the upside enough to roll the dice.

As far as the nature of the injury, that could be a blessing in disguise.
Broken bones usually don't generate a whole lot of pain...

Let's hope for the best for the young man...

Make that 4-6 week recovery on CJ Anderson's MCL sprain, not 2-4 weeks. So it's bad. Still not as bad as feared.

4-6 weeks aint bad

I say we keep him on the active roster and just cut Lance Ball.

He has been a good story, but is likely not a top 53 player. IR or PS.

Not on a Super Bowl squad.

what are you basing this on?

btw, I don't think it's much of a limb to assume he's practice squad bound now that he's been hurt. This conversation would have been more intriguing earlier in the week, imo.
