See what lack of camp news will do to a thread!

Someone better post some news or it's going to get worse.

Denver Broncos 2013 Training Camp: Fights and Slips to start Week Two

Defense puts on the pressure

After yesterday's practice saw the offense really abuse the defense, Denver's defensive line responded, especially at defensive end. Broncos pass rushers were consistently getting to and getting after the quarterback, abusing the likes of Chris Clark and Orlando Franklin each while surround Peyton Manning all morning.

Robert Ayers and Von Miller really shone in first team work, while Malik Jackson had a strong practice in mixed work. Shaun Phillips also had a few moments, and the secondary, led by Chris Johnson, bounced back after a rough Wednesday.

Who Won Today - Chris Harris

I saw Harris stepping up as a leader today. With DRC out and Champ Bailey still getting limited reps, Harris, who is only in his third year, is being looked to as the top cornerback, and he's filling that role by example and through giving advice. He fit the bill physically today as well; on one play he had a perfect angle on a Peyton Manning throw to Wes Welker, closed on the ball, and broke up the pass with ease.

Runner Up: Robert Ayers. The big defensive end had a great day in one-on-one's and also got around Peyton Manning and Brock Osweiler on a few occasions in team work.

Runner Up #2: Nate Irving. Irving has had a quiet camp, which may be a good thing. He isn't messing up and just doing his job. But today he stood out as a player getting more comfortable in finding his lanes to cover and also sticking his nose in the mix. He even had an impressive pass break-up of Julius Thomas late in practice...

I thought I read Irving looked lost in coverage...? And Trevathan has been shinning.

This is what kills me about these reports. I love them, but if a player is called out in a negative light just once in some random person's report (who may have seen one or 2 bad plays from a practice), they are "struggling". I don't mean to call you out - but the level of importance put into these reports by the fans is crazy. Unless - it's something like Orange Julius getting praised by everyone. Then, you know it's a 100% guarantee that he is going to be a star.

Call me crazy but if Irving sucks I see them playing Woodyard at Mike and Trevathon at Will. I doubt they bring in a vet to play MLber

Either way Wesley is playing all 3 downs

Or put Trevathan at Mike since that is what he played at Kentucky

Woodyard might of as well I dont remember but I always thought Trevathan could be a possbility at Mike because of his way to work through traffic

Wesley played all 3 downs last year and that was never in jeopardy this year.

The reports are just our crack fix...they do vary widely. Like say if DMAC writes one you know to use the proverbial grain of salt as he knows nothing about football.

However, as you joked, they all have been consistent in raving about Julius Thomas. and as such, I am sucking down the kool aid "like coca cola"

PLAYMAKERS
In one-on-one drills between the offensive line and the defensive line, Malik Jackson put a swim move on Zane Beadles to get by him. Jackson also quickly made his way through the offensive line once during an 11-on-11 session and slapped Brock Osweiler on the shoulder pads for what would have been a sack.

On the very next play, Robert Ayers got in the backfield to put pressure on the quarterback.

In an early 11-on-11 section of practice, rookie Ross Rasner, who has been subject to carrying several veterans' pads a couple of times during camp, made a diving interception of Zac Dysert along the sideline.

Von Miller, wearing eye-burning, bright orange socks, picked up a sack in during 11-on-11s.

Linebacker Danny Trevathan had a lively day on the practice field and laid a big hit on rookie wide receiver Kemonte' Bateman. Bateman showed some resolve though as he held on to the ball and on the very next play made a nice catch through more contact.

Ronnie Hillman had a couple of lenthy runs in practice today including one right up the middle and Montee Ball broke a big run on a delay.

At the end of practice the Broncos worked on goal-line situations and Knowshon Moreno was the only player to score, finding the front corner of the end zone on a run.

The defense forced Peyton Manning to throw a ball away during the goal-line portion of practice, and the defenders on the sideline all shouted praise for safety Duke Ihenacho for his effort on the play.

Nate Irving had a nice day with a couple of breakups and a particularly impressive diving deflection in front of tight end Julius Thomas.
In 7-on-7 passing drills, both Gerell Robinson and Lamaar Thomas had a pair of nice catches.

Cornerback Kayvon Webster made a diving play during punt coverage work as he caught the ball to down it on the 1-yard line.

Steven Johnson continues to be one of the biggest hitters in camp as he popped running back C.J. Anderson near the sideline.
