Ron Jowarski has used it in his QB rankings the past few seasons to describe a QB who is able to pinpoint the throw into the perfect area.
he uses it to denote a severely accurate passer vs a strong armed QB.

When you say pin point accuracy that makes sense. When you say area code accuracy it sounds like a guy who couldn't hit the ocean throwing from the beach.

it's in comparison to zip code accuracy. which is a gunslinger who throws it up and hopes the WR is there.

I don't think it makes sense. Both are large geographic areas that encompass sometimes millions of people. Saying you can throw to an area code has all the awe of saying you can throw into the ocean.

needless to say, if you have to explain your stupid analogy its probably not a very good one

lol jowarski

fwiw, area codes are a much larger area than zip codes almost all the time, so yeah, dumb

Camp So Far: An Overview

2. Running back: Ronnie Hillman has taken the lead role and hasn't lost any of his speed playing at 200 pounds. He looks more confident than he did last year - and is also healthier, since he hasn't grappled with the hamstring injuries that dogged him last summer. Montee Ball is enduring a rookie's typical ups and downs, but when it comes together for a young running back, it usually happens fast, and often during games. Knowshon Moreno has been solid, and Jeremiah Johnson has broken off some nice runs.

1. TE Julius Thomas: Every day, he makes a play that leaves onlookers wowing at his athleticism and body control. This is why the Broncos picked him in the fourth round two years ago, and why they and numerous other teams had a high grade on him in spite of just one season of football experience after his freshman year of high school. But he needs to display that in games to truly underscore the Broncos' faith in him.

2. S Duke Ihenacho: He stuck on the practice squad for most of the 2012 season and is justifying the Broncos' patience with him, showing solid instincts in coverage and against the run, while doing an excellent job of reading the quarterback, which set himself up for a pair of interceptions in consecutive days. Ihenacho could also factor into special teams, enhancing his chances of sticking on the final 53.

3. DT Sylvester Williams: Until his minor knee injury Monday, the first-round pick was off to a strong start, showing his pass-rush moves in one-on-one drills. The next step is taking that work and applying it to team periods of practice.

If women all went around topless with hairy under arms we'd get used to it the same way we've gotten used to their bare legs/backs/arms etc.

MileHighReport ‏@MileHighReport 26m

Love the way DBs coach Cory Undlin works with his secondary. Kayvon Webster will particularly benefit: a teaching coach.

@EricDecker87 just put a sick double-move on Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Beat him deep for a Manning touchdown.

Andrew Mason ‏
Manning's looked outstanding. The timing between him & Demaryius Thomas in particular has been fun to watch.

Lindsay Jones ‏@bylindsayhjones 2m
Rahim Moore makes a pick on a deep pass by Manning that was deflected by DRC. Manning's body language says he's not very happy.

MileHighReport ‏@MileHighReport 7m
Practice on fire today. @WesWelker just beat Tony Carter and Rahim Moore for a TD. Two plays later DRC tips to Rahim for an INT.

I think that's kind of cool. or the first year at least, it might be interesting to see how that shapes up and plays out.

Wrong. You didn't know the insufferable Deion Sanders was involved -

"Captains" Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders will reportedly choose the squads in Hawaii. This year's game will be played on January 26 in Honolulu, and will not feature kickoffs. It's similar to what the NHL has done with its All-Star game, though Canada's national pastime lets current players choose the teams. Perhaps it's an improvement on the now defunct AFC/NFC format, but the hand-wringing over the league's All-Star exhibition has never made much sense. The game is inherently meaningless. This isn't going to change that, and will likely make the proceedings even more frivolous"
http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/football/

More opportunity for him to act like he is somehow still relevant to the game.

So I wand to make sure I have this straight, because I think its backwards.

Area code accuracy = placing the ball in the right spot for WR to catch it, or in the perfect window?

Zip code accuracy = placing the ball somewhere in the vicinity where it "might be caught", or in a bigger area?

Lets look at the Denver Metro area, there are approximately 60 different Zip Codes encompassing the greater Metro area. However, for all that land, people with local phone numbers have an area code of either (303) or (720). This indicates to me that a zip code is a more precise determining factor of where one is located than an area code. So in theory, zip code accuracy should mean a more precision pass, or closer to the "right" spot. Whereas area code accuracy means that its somewhere near the target area, but not very precise.

I think that a QB who drops a pass into the perfect spot for a receiver to catch it is delivering it directly to an address where they know the WR will eventually be, and thus it would be like sending it certified mail. Or maybe even fax accurate? Cause a fax is connected to a landline where the WR will receive the "document".

I hope it's just an ankle sprain! I really liked him at the other corner spot too. You don't have that many 6'2 corners that run 4.3 with his ability.

Just hope it isnt season ending

Corner is probably our deepest position, so if we can keep him and get some of the younger guys more experience it could be OK
