My mother goes there for cancer treatment. Fantastic hospital. Built around the old Fitzsimmons hospital. Last time I was there they were expanding again.

How much $$$ do you have? I thought it was hilarious that someone circled the Washington Park neighborhood as a possibility. I grew up there. Wish I'd never left. The houses in my old neighborhood now sell between $600,000 and $1.2 million.

Was just at a fella's house last week picking up an antique stove for my brother, corner of 10th and Harrison, right off Colorado Blvd across the street from Rose Medical Center. House is about 111 years old and the guy was renovating it. Real nice house, but small. Two bedrooms upstairs with one bath; finished basement with one bedroom and a bath. Guy is going to sell for about $600,000.

The claim that Aurora is "ghetto" and unsafe just isn't accurate.

The facts. https://www.auroragov.org/LivingHere/PublicSafety/

Colfax is the problem across the metro area not Aurora itself.

The criminals have moved to Denver. You can't even fart on a street in Aurora. Not a fan of cops but they have cleaned the city up.

Billions of dollars of development and there is a 50 million dollar bond approved to redo east colfax beyond 225. Big money players have moved in and grabbed big chunks.

Just wait a bit. Denver is shaking in it's boots at the $1,000,000,000 Gaylord Hotel/conference center in Aurora.

The nations biggest conferences west of the Mississippi not located in Vegas will be held in "No reason to go there Aurora".

Like I said big money/smart money is moving in while the uniformed don't even realize what is happening in Aurora.

Between the hospital, DIA development, and Gaylord we are going to see more and more threads like this from Maners being drawn to Aurora to make a killing.

If you are in construction, the medical field, hospitality there are TENS OF THOUSANDS of high paying jobs being added in Aurora Colorado right now.

Housing is still affordable compared to many other areas of the front range.

Don't need to pay you. It's one of the fastest growing/job growth areas of Colorado. We're breaking ground on a 1,000+ lot subdivision soon. People are paying us.

The OP title is moving to "denver" because of a job in Aurora. Same with the other thousands of people moving to Aurora. That is my point. The job growth is in Aurora. Where he lives is up to him. If people want to drive 30 minutes to make money in aurora that's fine. Just easier to live where you work.

I'm not ****ing anyone. Aurora has incorrectly been labeled an unsafe city yet the facts consistently rank Aurora in the top 10 safest cities in America of similar size. Facts are facts.

Aurora doesn't deserve as bad of a rap it gets. Yes, there are some ghetto areas.

It's just pretty boring and suburban. If you want to go out and meet people, probably not the best place to live. Asking for a DUI if you want to go to bars in downtown.

Aurora certainly doesn't meet the general demographic of the omane which is I would guess 18-30 something mostly single males chasing women/parties/football.

If a guy is married, wants to make $60,000-$80,000 a year, buy a home for 150k-200k, be 20 minutes to the Broncos, 20 minutes to DIA and be anywhere in America a few hours later it's an option.

Chasing chicks in bars, avoiding DUIs, renting a shoebox in a high rise for $1,500. Yup downtown!

Not exactly correct. 225 is nearly complete and light rail is being extended from Nine Mile to ride to Iliff in the near future. Eventually continuing on to CU medical campus in the coming years.

Drove the highway last week. Still tight south of Mississippi but it flies north of it all the way to I-70.

How about a guy paid more thn that for a house, is 20 min from the broncos, 40 min from the airport, 20 min from the foothills, 5 minutes from the light rail, plus still being able to chase chicks, and is in littleton? Bars aren't as good but the women aren't as bad as dtown or aurora either. Plus, the highlands ranch ladies venture over quite a bit.

Always Castle Rock. Not that far of a commute, outside of the city and within an hour of anything of value.

Sure. Always an option. Cheapest single family out there right now is around 189,000 for very average and small house. http://www.realtor.com/realestateand...4-61843?row=97 If you high paying job is in Aurora you'll be spending 2 hrs per day, 10 hrs per week, 520 hrs a year burning thousands of dollars of extra gas.

189k buys you almost twice the house in Aurora.

Sure you can drop 389k on a house in littleton. Question is will you have hundreds of extra dollars to drop on drinks for the highland ranch ladies?

Aurora gals are fine with PBR.

Anyway just trying to bring some facts to the table. I know people love to dump on Aurora but if a guy wants to make some good money and pay a house off in 5, 10, 15 years with a good paying job it can be done.

Being a slave to a 30 year mortgage is the "american dream" right? BofAm and Wells Fargo will tell you so!

Look in all seriousness there are plenty of great spots to live across the front range. The key is finding the right property that WORKS for you and to be sure you aren't just "Working for the property".

Proximity to work, school, amenities, affordability, quality of construction, crime, quality of life all factor in. For anyone to say that any particular spot is the place to be without regard of their finances just isn't realistic.

Three factors to owning and buying a property. Ready, willing, and ABLE. Wanting to be close to rich drunk ladies and Broncos football doesn't cut it.
