Default Any Idea on Cap Space Left?

Orange Mane Capologists please pick up the Orange and Blue courtesy phone...

Have we signed Sly Williams yet? any room for John Abraham? or a quality vet on a short term deal?

Clady deal doesn't change much. Still about 10 mil in cap space.

According to local capologist lonestar, we should be well in the negatives.

Denver had about 7.48 after Shaun Phillips signed. They needed about 3.9 million of that for the rookies. Then about 600K for Koppen I believe. So about 3 million and change before this deal.

Remaining True Cap Space	-$1.84M
2012 Cap Carryover $14.10M
Remaining Cap Space 2013	$12.26M
I show the Broncos needing around $10M in rollover to resign Broncos internal FA's after the season is over (Beadles, Decker, Woodyard, etc.), and to cover increases in existing contracts. Looking good as long as Mays and Kuper are cut (if not, looking way short going into 2014).
One or both could restructure.

Or that, which would be nice.

edit: Vic Lombardi says Clady getting $15M in year one. Is that cap hit?

But Lonestar said we would have to trade Clady because we didn't have the cap space to sign him or any other FA's either! I am confused!

I bet his head exploded every time Denver signed a player. He posts over at IAOFM now. I can't wait to reaf his comments on this deal.

He has over 1500 posts over there since being banned here. He seems to be in shock that this deal got done.

Based on everything that has been reported ($15M in year one, $33M in guarantees over first three years, $52.5M base, $57.5M with escalators, and escalator schedule), this is what I project Clady's deal is:

Code:
Year	Salary	Signing	Esc.	Cap Hit
2013	$10.00	$1.00	$0.00	$11.00
2014	$10.00	$1.00	$0.50	$11.50
2015	$10.00	$1.00	$1.50	$12.50
2016	$8.75	$1.00	$1.50	$11.25
2017	$8.75	$1.00	$1.50	$11.25
Total:	$47.50 $5.00	$5.00	$57.50

Here's my 2013 salary cap projection (based on Clady's salary, Kuper cut, Mays cut, Sly $1.2M cap hit):

Code:
NFL Team Salary Cap $123.00
Top 51 total $124.95
Remaining True Cap Space	-$1.95
2012 Cap Carryover $14.10
Remaining Cap Space 2013	$12.15
That would give the Broncos $12.15M to rollover into 2014 (for FA's), which should be enough to sign all the internal FA's, and an external FA or two (if needed).

I know it seems like the Clady contract was a run-of-the-mill procedure, but it was highly impressive:

1. Broncos DO NOT sacrifice the future by backloading contracts.
2. It shows the rest of the NFL that the Broncos treat their players right by not haggling, and rewarding stellar play.
3. It has been a GREAT offseason by Mike Sullivan.
4. Best roster from 1-53 in the entire NFL from one of the best FO's.
5. Broncos give themselves a way out, after 3 years with a minimal signing bonus, and limited guarantees.
6. Even with such a large contract both parties get what they want. Great for Clady. Great for the Broncos.

This is starting to feel awesome.

You only get paid weeks 1-17. He hasn't been paid by the Broncos since last year. I doubt he'll get another $4 million check from Broncos.

I don't know. Didn't they try to package him in a trade or talk about it before or during the draft? If so then he is healthy.

I almost wonder if they don't give Mays another look during TC as it is so close now and if he hasn't improved or cannot contribute to the team they cut him during a wave of TC cuts.
