lots of numbers.

I guess my question to the team is, what benefit is there to give Miller a deal at all? The only thing I can think of his team chemistry (which is a pretty big deal).

From the article:

Quote:
Brock Osweiler, who was benched late in the year for Manning, is probably looking at a two to three year contract for maybe $7 million a season plus incentives.
If they can get that, the Broncos would be dumb not to do it.

It would be better for him if the final year or two becomes void able with playing time reached. That way he still makes a little coin and can sign a much bigger contract if he proves himself.

Yeah that and Miller for 102 mil at those numbers would be nice!

The reason is you don't let a generational talent walk. Ware is nearing the end and Barret and Ray are good, but not at the level of Von.

Remove him and our pass rush evaporates. The numbers the other guys get are helped because of Von commanding double and occasional triple teams.

With a franchise tag Miller would sit out all offseason and even the preseason. A few players can do that and not really miss a beat, but for many being out that long means they are more injury prone when they get back, not up to speed and not really fitting into the team.

I think he's suggesting you keep franchising him. I think the Cap Cost and the CBA have contingencies to make the very pricey.

this is a good reason

Yes, of course we do not let Von walk, I say open up the pocketbook guarantee his ass 75% of his contract and get his base to around 15 mil per and call it a day.

I think, and I am guessing here, that his point was no deal, just tag. Which is a serious consideration. However, if you tag without at least offering a deal, you may show disrespect which impacts team chemistry.

I think the team HAS to work to get a deal done. A paid Von is a happy Von, and a LONG TERM Von is a happy fanbase.

HOWEVER, tagging him, and potentially tagging him TWICE, is not a bad route t go if we have to.

Anyone else find the author's 7 million non-biased evaluation of Brock interesting?

They go that route and you can just about guarantee von will go elsewhere.

Think they are in a vacuum.

http://overthecap.com/position/quarterback/2016/

A huge void in that range. I continue to be concerned that some idiot GM will go to 10 plus

Just heard Clayton on the radio (so take it for what it is worth given the source) and he said he is hearing a Nick Foles like deal. Bridge contract around 12 per with roughly half in guarantees. On Von, we gotta pay the man.
