Any list needs to include Bowlen. The Broncos are at or near the top of most significant stats for an NFL team during his tenure.

I'm not qualified to give a broad historical perspective to the selection. I first became a Bronco fan when I was 7, ironically the 1983 season, only vaguely aware of the hype surrounding #7. I haven't spent much time going back over old footage to really get a sense about the Gradishars and Littles, and if there's going to be any kind of official selection made it should have a broad historical perspective.

That being said, even a broad historical perspective has to be weighted towards the Super Bowl teams because of what they accomplished. I can't see how TD doesn't get in. For those two years, the two best teams in Bronco history, TD was their best player. They wouldn't have won without TD. They wouldn't have won without Elway either, but he's on the list too.

Hopefully the current team shifts the weight away from the 97-98 teams a bit. Champ would be impossible to leave off if he becomes a Champ.

My subjective post 83 list:
Elway
Davis
Sharpe
Smith

Sharp(e) disagreement on Broncos’ Mt. Rushmore

Posted by Mike Florio on June 21, 2013, 7:36 PM EDT

Lately, Pro Football Talk on NBCSN and PFT Planet had been in consistent agreement regarding the Mt. Rushmores of multiple teams.

Key words: Had been.

On Friday, the two sides differed when it comes to half of the Broncos Mt. Rushmore.

Sure, we agreed on John Elway. And hard-hitting (just ask Christian Okoye) safety Steve Atwater. But I went with Floyd Little and Tom Jackson, which the voters picked Terrell Davis and Shannon Sharpe.

Watch the segment, see the voting results, and complain in the comments below.

Mike Florio has brain damage. Floyd Little over Terrell Davis? WTF? And Tom Jackson wasn't even the best linebacker on the team when he was playing.

John Elway
Floyd Little
Champ Bailey
Shannon Sharpe

They are Denver's HOFers; Zim wasn't in Denver long enough.

I can't believe how it turned out:

Elway, Atwater, T.J., Little

Not even close in my opinion.

Elway and Little yes.....I put Gradishar right after Elway in best ever in the franchise. I know a lot of you never got to see Gradishar play....but, he was the best LB of his generation....better than Ham, Lambert, etc. He was the face of the franchise.

And, I'm sorry....I give Bowlen a lot of grief.....but, the Denver Broncos as we know them...a top 5 franchise over the past 25yrs.....is all about Bowlen.

The correct Mt. Rushmore: Elway, Little, Gradishar, Bowlen

Honorable mentions: Billy Thompson, Steve Atwater Shannan Sharpe, T.D., Meck, Louie Wright, Tom Jackson, Rod Smith, Tom Nalen, Zim, Dennis Smith, Champ Bailey, Al Wilson

Anyone who doesn't think Gradishar should have been a HOFer doesn't know his/her Broncos football! Atwater too! Champ has been a great Bronco....but, I put him closer to the 8-10 range. I'm not sure I'd place Champ above Rod Smith....and I have at least 7-8 players above Rod.

I voted for: Elway, Shannahan, Bowlen, T. Davis

I think Dan Reeves should have been on the short list of people to pick from but of course not one of the finalists. He did accomplish alot while in Denver.

Gradishar was awesome. The main piece of a defense that completely dominated for a few years.

Honorable mention Red Miller. Coaching our first SB team and making a lasting expectation for greatness has to get some due respect.

can't understand why there isnt more support for Bailey...

imo he's one of the top 3 corners of all time and Denver's best ever defensive player... i think he's made the pro bowl every year with Denver (and before)...

This would be my list as well.

Honorable mention to:

Kaiser/Irsay ()/Bowlen
Shanahan/Reeves
Terrell Davis
Steve Atwater
Dennis Smith
Tom Jackson
Shannon Sharpe

Because there are only 4 slots.

Yep...There is a reason Phipps is in the Ring of Fame, which IMO is the only place these choices can come from.

Ever see Louis Wright play? He only had like 20 career INT's because opponents rarely tried to throw to the guy he covered.

Champ is a Hall of Famer....but when you can only pick 4 Broncos, and two givens are floyd and elway, there isn't gonna be as much support for a guy who wasn't an original Bronco vs. someone who was a Bronco for their entire career like Gradishar, Rod Smith, etc.

Id like to change my vote to 4 porn-stached Jake Plummers because it'd be awesome.

yea I am not sure
As far as how well someone played their position I would have to think Champ is surely in the top 5 and is arguably the greatest player to wear the orange and blue

Champ might be the greatest QB of all time. He is a sure fire 1st ballot HOF. Rod Smith will never even make the HOF.
