kind of saw this coming, he was a great help to the team and really filled in as a leader but with the depth at running back this year and his fumble and injury issues it wasn't meant to be. I think they cut him this early so that he would have a better chance catching on elsewhere. I wish him the best, he was a great asset for the last couple years.

Default Willis McGahee Released

Adam Schefter just reported it and SC just ran the story.

So do we pick up either Michael Turner, Beanie Wells, Cedric Benson or Brandon Jacobs?

I think between Moreno, Ball, Hester, and Hillman, there is no room for a retread. Otherwise they would have kept Willis.

Too much new young talent, this reflects their confidence that Ball and Hillman are gonna be ready for prime time with Hester doing short yardage/ goal line and pass protect as needed ... Though Hillman and Ball will both do pass protect as well ... And Knowshon as a fourth backup... Likely CJ on practice squad in case anyone goes down.

Saves some bucks to pay Clady with as well. Lets get Clady into Camp on time.

I called this

They did him a solid by releasing him now, they could have kept him around in case someone gets injured but they are giving him a chance to catch on somewhere else.

This was obviously going to happen. You could see it a mile high away! People thinking that he would stick over KM after fumbling all season (he also fumbled at key moments in previous seasons) and getting outplayed once KM got to play weren't thinking it through.

Running backs are dime a dozen now and are pointless having after the age of 30, you can find good running backs that are rookie FA who can easily replace McGahee if you need a 3rd string back.

Fresh legs is what you need and Montee Ball has that, no reason he can't do what Ridley did for us.

The most unshocking development at running back! The timing is curious though

Personally I would have much rather kept McGahee over Lance Ball.

Ugh. Not sure this was smart.

Anyone remember my post where I said, "Mark my words... Moreno will make the team and McGahee will be the guy that gets cut."
