Default FB Vonta Leach to be released or traded

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/93...se-source-says

ratbirds can't afford him. I know a lot of people have been saying that Monte Ball will drastically improve our short yardage run game, and this could be the case, but having a steamroller FB like Leach would probably go even further for those purposes. Not only does he block like an animal, but i'm assuming he's also pretty tough to take down on the quick FB draws.

If we are in win-now, why the hell not? He's a 31 year old running back, true, but we don't need his speed, just his ability to break people.

The Ravens run game drastically improved when Leach came to town. He is familiar with both a zone (Houston) and power (Baltimore) run blocking scheme.

I would be all for this signing if we keep an actual FB on the roster.

When and where are you ever going to use a fullback in an 11 personnel no huddle offense?

He's leaving because he wouldn't reduce his $3 mill salary. We lost out on Charles Woodson because of a few hundred thousand dollars.

People are already talking about how much Tamme will be on the field now that Denver brought in Welker. How are we going to also figure in having a fullback on the field for more than just a few plays a game at the cost that he would want? Sounds good at first glance but I don't see it happening.

Oh, I don't know...maybe in the last 2 minutes of a playoff game, when you're up by 7, both starting RB's are injured, and you are trying to preserve the lead in sub-zero temperatures.

That being said Leach's playing time in the Broncos Offense is probably not worth the salary he would command.

I seem to recall Thomas, Decker, Stokley and Tamme being on the field in four wide sets.

I am fairly confident we will see a lot of Thomas, Decker, Welker and Tamme on the field in four wide sets.

Thomas, Decker, Welker, Orton, King, Holliday. Goodbye Bubba Caldwell.

I highly doubt the Broncos go after a pricey FB, albeit an awesome one. Theres just not enough looks for a FB in the Broncos offense. Leach is hands down the best FB right now though imo.

He makes out team better. What else will we use that cap money on? I'd love to see about 20 running plays right at Elvis to start the season. Revenge.

Not saying we absolutely need him but personally I would love to see more traditional I formations with a stud blocking FB in front of MoneyBall!

As a ball carrier. Leach would not be an improvement on that front.

Love me some awesome FB. Would be totally in for this. Too bad we place little to no value for this position now.

We aren't going to use a precious roster spot on an obsolete position of zero need.

Since he's being released over contract issues, it's highly unlikely he'll sign for peanuts like Phillips & Jammer. Doubtful Elway pays a premium for a player that is not very valued in this offense.

Good guy, great player but I don't see it. He is from East Carolina where I've lived the last 30 years. I had the privilage to hang with him back in his college days & he is a good dude to have in the locker room but it just doesn't seem like a great fit for our offense.

If we did overpay for a FB & grab him though, I wouldn't be against it.

His agent, Ralph Vitolo, told Houston television station KRIV: "He's probably a fit for four or five teams. Denver, Dallas, Houston, people like that, Cincinnati."
