The running QBs like RGIII will not last. A pocket QB that can also run when needed to escape sacks, and or pick up a 1st down to keep a drive going, are still the type that will be predominant.

Russell Wilson will probably outlast RG, because he is willing to throw it away.

Peyton can't run....but he can move just enough to get loose to throw it away. Wish he had done that in the Baltimore game 5th quarter.

So when Manning is done we do what, snap our fingers and poof a franchise qb appears.

If Brock holds a clipboard his entire contract it will be because Peyton is still playing ( at a high level).

I honestly think that Peyton will not keep playing for the 4 years unless we have gone to at least one and probably 2 superbowls.

And if he plays at 40 it will probably be to go for the Three-peat.

and none of those guys looked anywhere near as prototypical NFL passer as Luck unless you want to go back to Manning or Elway. There's a reason he was touted as the best pro prospect in a generation or so. Year 1 wouldn't lead one to think he's going to disappoint either. Feel free to bookmark and bump if he does somehow bust.

The exception to the rule but if you look back Dilfer replaced Banks halfway through the season. Hardly a recipe for any franchise to follow in fact him and Tebow are only a handful of QBs who were cut the next year after winning a playoff game the previous year.

Very good point. Wilson seems like he has as much chance as Luck to win a Super Bowl right now. Even Kapernick came closer than Luck - why isn't he in the discussion?

For me, I love the whole Manning experience. I'm absolutely astounded that Elway got him here, and it just seems like Elway is back at QB for the Broncos (hear me out). I keep expecting miracles every game, every season.

I wouldn't change these Manning years for anything. I'm honored that he chose us, and this is exciting football - every game.

Lol. Give me a break. Osweiler is not a sure bet, neither is anyone. I think most would have preferred to get an immediate contributor instead of burning a high pick on a guy who aint gonna play for a while.

Imho, you waited until Manning Year 2 or 3 to do this. The scouting department should have recognized the QB depth in the 2014 class.

Oh well.

They probably could've ended up with Luck too if not for the Tebow project blowing up in Elway's face during the 2011 season.

It was a helluva ride though!

not even close. Von and Brock even without a few years of Manning is a better package than just Luck. as good as he is and will be i wouldn't trade Von for him.

The expressions on Elway's face after the first few miracle wins speaks to the probability of the plan you speak of.

And what a plan it was, get rid of Tebow and draft Luck all as a result of letting Tebow play and suck except old Timmy fooled um.

How many playoff games did Derrick Thomas win with Joe Montana and how many with QBs like Grbac Keig, Bono. I know Joe won alot without Thomas

I'm not saying Luck is better or equal to Joe but Luck is a hell of a lot better than the other QBs KC had

KC stays with Gannon in the 97 playoffs and Denver is watching SB 32 from home. Thanks, Marty!

I really liked Gannon. Hated the Broncos facing him but loved his game. He's really fun to listen to on Sirius these days.

Von is my favorite player. But if it were a straight up trade, and we needed a QBOF (we don't have Oz), I would trade Von for Luck.

Yes he is. The only one I like better is Gil Brandt.

I'd trade Von, Bro, and Manning for Luck in a hot minute... all the while laughing maniacally for contributing to the serial raping of the Colts.

Prediction; you would be trading 4 super bowls for 3 super bowls.

Luck

This isn't even a discussion. Young franchise QB for at least the next decade.

To add: I would've made this decision b4 the draft.
