I think some people were expecting a super-powered Shawshank Redemption instead of Superman

I would see a Super Powered Shawshank. Sounds awesome.

Not so bad if you just pretend this was it.

One wonders what it would have been like if Ledger didn't die though.

Just saw this movie. While there isn't a lot if character development beyond Superman, Jor-El and Zod the movie is great. It is fun, the action is intense and at times brutal.

That's all one can expect from a summer superhero movie...

This movie could have cut a hour and been solid. Sadly that wasn't the case and we are once again subjected to product placement and asinine plot wasting dialogue. Snyder continues to prove to have an amazing trailer production team.

With all the destruction I thought maybe Michael Bay had something to do with it. Decent movie, can be built on.

I'm still, and always will be, a Marvel guy.

Hopefully Snyder does well with the upcoming Battlestar Galactica movie he is slated to do.

I just don't understand how Marvel freakin owns at the movies while DC gets blown away. To me, I like the DC superheroes better, and the villains as well, but most of the movies have been horrible.
So much potential there. Flash, Wonder Woman, a better Green Lantern take, its all there to be gold.

Not even close.

Just off the top of my head, these had really good first and/or second chapters and FAR worse third installments:

Austin Powers
Beverly Hills Cop
Godfather
Jurassic Park
Matrix
Mummy
Spider Man (Tobey Maguire versions)

I'm still seething that they raped the Mandarin like that. I will never see a movie made by those guys again.

Totally killed Marvel's phase 2 momentum for me. Thor and Winter Soldier better be ****ing amazing, but I doubt it. Ironman was the franchise that carried the Avengers lead in.

Joss Whedon is all they have now

t
OK - I'll give you the Matrix. That 3rd one was putrid. Many of those series ( Powers, Cop, Mummy), the 3rd movie shouldn't have been made.

Batman Rises was just a huge, huge drop off for me.

X-men 3 as well.

God so many movies I wish I could forget about
X3 and Spider-Man 3 were two of the biggest disasters....*shudders*

I thought the new Batman trilogy was solid, but vastly overrated by people. Batman Begins was a good movie, Dark Knight was really good, and Rises was okay to be honest.
