We don't know what happened. I heard many different things.

1. Golden didn't get an actual offer but was in discussions and waiting for the formal offer. He then heard about Munchak and got spooked and demanded an actual contract by a certain time or he would withdraw.

2. Golden received an actual offer, but wanted 24 hours to think about it as he was torn and his spouse really doesn't want to leave warm climate especially since her parents and his recently moved down to Florida as well.

3. Golden received an offer, was going to take it, had finally convinced his family to go up there but Penn St. made certain staff demands (ie no Coach D as the DC) and he rejected that.

Also just read PSU will not make a decision till late in the week now which suggests they didn't love Munchak or Franklin. I know Pete Lembo is being interviewed. EDIT: Now Munchak is denying he even interviewed lol.

Mort sent out a tweet. He definitely interviewed.
In terms of them waiting, I don't think it means that didn't love one of the other. I think it means there are several factions at work in play and each want their guy. More than likely you have 3-4 sects who each have powerful boosters in their corner.
Some don't want another coach who will use PSU to get another job, others want a "legacy" and some others want the best guy and don't want a guy with PSU ties so they can further distance themselves from Paterno.

I hate to say it but PSU HC job isn't one I would touch if I was HC offered it. O'Brien made it sound the Paterno fraction was out of control and just wore him down to put that he had to leave (think RichRob at UM).

Bump that. I would be on the first thing smoking for that job.
Before 3-4 years ago they were the top money grossing program in college football for many years running. They were Texas before Texas was.

The problem with O'Brien is that he was the guy that followed the guy.
Whomever gets the job now will be the guy who comes in to replace the traitor who bolted to the NFL.

The factions fighting for power are out of control but part of that is due to the scandals there is no real power person in the AD to silence them all.

I think Ford is the only back returning to OU so it sets him up perfectly for Mixon to come in and have a chance to make a major impact.

Golden could still end up at Pedo State. Seems clear from his PC that he isn't happy, and I know the admin and fans aren't happy either.

Much different than usual demeanor.

PSU better go get Franklin and call it a day. Offensive genius, master recruiter, magnetic personality and he surrounds himself with great assistants.

Auburn looks unstoppable. Pickin' up where they left off vs Mizzou.

It's stunning to me how many people think FSU is so dominant.

this isn't usually the case in BcS National Championship games. Looks like Auburn is warming up the racing boat

The previous schools that had a similar SOS to FSU in the title game all lost by double digits.

I'm an ACC guy, but Duke winning a division should tell you all you need to know about the strength of the conference this year.

Outside of Clemson, FSU didn't really play anybody.

They were definitely getting way too much love.

If FSU loses, I give my Denver Broncos memorabilia to SoCalBronco.

I also give this account to Chef Luigi.

Please FSU, don't crap on me.
