Yes, not counting the one team on their schedule that remains in the top 25 at the moment does make them look incredible doesn't it?

When you only allow an average of 5 points a game, over a 7 game stretch, that is pretty freakin incredible.
Tennessee, Ole Miss, Virginia Tech aren't exactly push overs either, and they throttled them all.

Here is what we need to do to have a chance to win this game:

OFFENSE
1. Base offense has to focus on running the ball from the I, the offset I, two TEs and power sets. Miami has a terrific and explosive young back in Duke Johnson. Use him! Seantrel Henderson needs to sit out the game. The OL has murdered people when Linder moves to OT, Bunche is at G and Henderson is on the bench. That is the lineup that needs to be used. We will need to run it to control the clock and play keep away. Duke Johnson 22 carries, Dallas Crawford 12 and Mo Hagens 3. We will control the clock with the run and make big plays with the playaction game. Our goal is to hold TOP for 40 minutes.

2. The playaction pass routes should always have levels to them. If the safety doesn't bite we WILL check it down everytime. No chances will be taken. When they come down, then you can let it rip to Stacy Coley or Herb Waters. Otherwise look for the back or TE in the flat off the run fake for the sure 5 yards.

3. The drop back game will not be used frequently. When it is, the focus will be on short, high percentage passes and quick 3 step passes to beat the pass rush. Our goal is to stay away from 3rd and medium to long.

4. If we get in third and long situations, we will NOT force it. In this situation, we will make heavy use of RB screens to Duke Johnson to get him in space and take advantage of an aggressive DL. Our other 3rd and long passes will focus on getting the ball on short to intermediate routes to trusty TE Clive Walford and letting him get the rest with YAC. Trying to take shots deep on third and long is a recipe for interceptions. Throwing a 15 yard route on 3rd and 13 isn't going to happen.

DEFENSE
1. The defensive gameplan is going to be completely the opposite of the offensive plan. Where we were extremely conservative on offense to chew up the clock, we will have to be extremely aggressive on defense. Miami is a two gap 3-4 team with an emphasis on zone, taking away the deeper routes and giving up the shorter ones (Cover 3 and Cover 2 "match"). This isn't going to work against FSU. Miami does not have the elite pass rushers to sit back. Only Tyriq McCord is a proven pass rusher. Al Quadin Muhammad has shown flashes but he is still a baby as a true freshman. Therefore, Miami will have to blitz, early and often.

2. The blitzes used should come from every direction. CB blitzes from the boundary side to get to the backfield quicker. Overload SS and OLB blitzes to make sure there are more people coming on one side of the ball than can be blocked. Zone blitzes from the 3-4 with both McCord and Muhammad coming from the OLB spots, with both ILB playing short zone to watch for the TE O'Leary on a quick hot route over the middle, with both CBs in the flat to guard against a quick hot throw to the flats to beat the blitz (half field safeties). Miami has to blitz, blitz, blitz. There is no other way to do it. We WILL get carved up trying to play coverage with no pass rush. In man-blitzes, CB Tracy Howard will play bump and run against Rashad Greene as he is our best cover corner. Howard must neutralize Green. The matchup of Antonio Crawford, Ladarius Gunter/Artie Burns on Shaw and Benjamin are far more problematic for Miami, so they will need to play off and with inside leverage to protect against the post and deep dig. Force Winston to throw the out and the comeback against the blitz, they are tougher throws.

3. Substantial practice time needs to be devoted to screen recognition and keys, as this is one of the first offensive adjustments to be expected against a blitz heavy game plan.

4. I prefer nickel personnel groupings with an extra DB in place of a backer. Our run defense is good, our pass defense will need all the help it can get, especially with O'Leary at TE.

SoCal's prediction: Everything I listed above has to be executed reasonably well to win. It's hard to do all of that well in one game against a great opponent on the road.

Florida State 45 Miami 20

Carl Pelini has agreed to resign immediately as HC at FAU. There have been reports that it was due to getting caught with pot. From what I have read that is just a cover and the substance is far more serious.

Carl took the FAU job / left Nebraska under a cloud of rumors re: him and the ladies. Dude likes to party, I guess. Maybe he could send a joint Bo's way? I'd love to hear a stoned Bo post-game rant.

USC pulls off a surprising and impressive 31-14 upset of Oregon St. In Corvallis.

Ed Orgeron's push to take away the interim tag just got a big shot in the arm.

#4 Ohio State is up on the Purdue 14-0 a few minutes into the game.

I knew Ohio State was going to bend Purdue over and double dry fist them today.

Purdue is a terrible team this season.

I'd rather watch Kevin James **** Roseanne Barr in the ass after she had an intestinal flu for four days than watch Ohio State put up 70 points on a hapless Purdue team.

Btw, I'm already unbelievably hopeful that Christian will replace Manning upon his retirement.

It'd be like the Colts transition to Luck only better

I'm already not looking forward to watching Ohio State widen Michigan's butthole on November 30th.

The game is in the Big House....so Michigan will probably hang for almost a half....just long enough to get my hopes up and give me some added emotional investment.

I think I went to about 8 Ohio State/Michigan games in a row in Ann Arbor and Columbus and Michigan only won one of those games. After 5 straight Ohio State wins, I'd had enough of the nonsense as was tired of spending a lot of money and going home pissed off every year.

If the game was in Ann Arbor, I'd drive home after the game, as Ann Arbor is only 45 minutes away. If the game was in Columbus, I'd spend the night, as it's about a 2.5 hour drive and it was fun to go down Friday night and party all weekend....although it's not much fun partying on High Street in Columbus on a Saturday night as a Michigan fan after losing that game.

It sucked losing that game, but it was always a damn good party down there.

I just want to go down there once for an Ohio State/Michigan game and watch Michigan win and then see all the frowny pouty faces in Columbus that night.

Too bad John Cooper still wasn't Ohio State's coach for all those games I went to, as Michigan owned him. Jim Tressel took over and put an end to the fun.

Now they've got Urban Meyer and he's a damn good coach. Hopefully, he'll get busted for his recruiting tactics or stomp on the heart's of Ohio State fans and leave them for another gig. I doubt that though, as I think Ohio State was always one of his two 'dream jobs'. I was hoping Brady Hoke would be the man and drive Urban Meyer out of the Big Ten like Nick Saban drove him out of the SEC.

Nick Saban had Urban Crier faking heart attacks like he was Fred Sanford. I'm not giving up on Brady Hoke yet, as he's got to get all of his talent in there....and he's got a few really outstanding recruiting classes coming in, as Brady Hoke and Greg Mattison are great recruiters, but I expected them to be a lot tougher and more physical in the trenches on both sides of the ball.

Rant over....Michigan better at least beat Sparty up in East Lansing today. If Michigan can't beat Ohio State, they better at least beat little brother and own the state of Michigan again this season.

Hundley is fine QB, but this team isn't investing in 1st or 2nd QB this upcoming year. They will Brock the chance.

It looks like Penn State and Illinois are going to OT.

I figured Penn State was going to beat Illinois by a couple of TDs.

Clutch TD pass by Christian Hackenberg on 3rd and long to give Penn State the lead in OT.
