Default Broncos Rookie Signings Thread: Vinston Painter signs.

Got the press PDF release from the Broncos, here is what it had to say:

THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2013

BRONCOS SIGN 2013 DRAFT CHOICE T VINSTON PAINTER

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Thursday signed rookie tackle Vinston Painter, who was selected by the club in the sixth round (173rd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Painter (6-foot-6, 309 pounds) played 31 games during his career at Virginia Tech, capping his tenure with the Hokies in 2012 by starting all 13 contests and earning honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference recognition from the league’s coaches.

A graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk, Va., Painter was born on Oct. 11, 1989.

_______________

These never have details on contracts, but there ya go. Painter is the first to sign.

Chris Clark is a solid back-up. I wouldn't get rid of him just yet.

Last years 173 pick was Alfred Morris. He signed a 4 year $2.223 dollar contract.

Painter is a bit of a project. It would be a miracle if he could contribute in any meaningful way this season. I wouldn't be surprised if gets an "injury" in the last preseason game like Blake did.

He must really need that signing bonus. Seriously though, I don't know why more of the later picks don't just sign now also.

Don't they get a small increase from last year's equivalent slot? I'm sure they could use the money.

Not sure why they keep saying Painter is 6'6"...he's 6'4" for crying out loud.

Little known fact: A section of the OL scouting reports for the Broncos has a part where it rates "Mugshot Rating" -- Painter and Franklin both scored 10/10.

None of those guys could hold a candle to Ben Hamilton's mug shot.

We have signed a 6th round pick and the Detroit Lions have just finished signing ALL of theirs. Get moving front office.

Quanterus Smith - DL - Broncos

Broncos signed No. 146 overall pick DE Quanterus Smith to a four-year contract.
A potential fifth-round steal because he's recovering from a November ACL tear, Smith flashed edge-bending pass-rush ability and excellent technique while pacing the nation in sacks per game before his injury. Smith is sitting out rookie minicamp. He could wind up contributing late in the season as a rookie

Tavarres King - WR - Broncos

Broncos signed fifth-round WR Tavarres King to a four-year contract.
A speedster with adequate size at just over 6-feet-tall and 189 pounds, King averaged 22.6 yards per reception as a senior for the Georgia Bulldogs. Eric Decker is in a contract year and Wes Welker won't last forever, so there is some opportunity at the end of the tunnel if King shows well as a rookie.

be sweet if King could develop into a Mike Wallace type for us. we need a legit deep ball tear the cover off the top of the defense WR.
DT is really good, Decker is good as well, Welker will slot you to death. but we need a one cut and house WR to pair with them.
