Yup. I believe I heard Webster is one of the guys they were scouting out. So they did their homework and waited for him to fall. As always, just have to wait and see how it plays out. Dude has speed, size, skills, can return kicks, 32 game starter.

I rather like it when we don't get the same ole names that every one here on OM have tattooed on their favorite 'must draft or die' list.

I would hate to think the FO has only as much football eval sense and judgment as all of us!

perhaps but your freaking offense under Reid doesn't run the ball anyway so why waste a pick on a RB who has injuries. Reid doesn't run the ball.

Why can't we just keep upgrading our d-line? I would kill to have a draft like the Giants, Ravens, hell even the Rams. I'd be fine with this kid in the 5th but the 3rd Jesus.

I like this draft for Denver. Don't know anything about Webster but it's a need. Ball was the RB I wanted. My 2 concerns for the season are MLB and S. But my faith is in Elway. And I still KNOW we are going to the SB this year.........and winning.

IMO there's a serious plan for DE. I think the FO and coaching staff believe we have the players to replace dumbbervilles production (which was best a couple years ago anyway).

Mike Klis ‏@MikeKlis

CB Jamar Taylor or RB Le'Veon Bell had they been their at No. 58. But then it came down to CB Blidi Wreh-Wilson and RB Montee Ball.

Mike Klis ‏@MikeKlis

Broncos also considered DE Damonte Moore in second. Ultimately went Ball because there was a drop-off of "big'' backs after Ball-Lacy

I think they got caught with their pants down with the Webster pick. I think a few guys they were targeting came off the board right before the selection and they weren't ready for it.

Bottom line: it's a bottom of the third round pick, not the biggest deal

... But still, if you want a physical press corner, you take Poyer there all day. Wonder if that means Webster WILL be competing at safety

For what it's worth Elway said they were surprised he was there. If true than for better or worse they got their guy. So saying they got caught with their pants down is most likely hogwash. Elway has said they ran mock after mock, hard to imagine they were caught flat footed in the third round because a team snatched their guy a selection earlier.

my thoughts too... when i watch the videos of him he looks more like a physical safety than a corner (reminds of Rolle, probably a little slower)

That's the impression I got as well -- their body language in the war room just before the pick was extremely deflated, like they'd just been jumped on a couple of their favorites. In interviews afterwards, they seemed a bit grumpy, as well.

I think this happened to them to a certain extent in all 3 rounds, although at least in the 1st there was a guy there they were more than happy to take. But I think they lost their 2-3 top targets every time.

Too transparent. People are taking advantage of knowing the position were targetong

Ah well, Sylvester and Montee are great pick ups.

Was so proud of Alford going in the second, just wish it had been to Denver. He's going to be special.
