No way the Nokia N95 (10 million sold) was probably the coolest phone out there till the Iphone came out. Nokia problem in America is the old CDMA vs GSM debate. They don't make very many CDMA phones, or at least they weren't for a while. That really limits the phone companies you can sale your phones too in America (At&T and T Mobile).
