Im still not sure the logic, all things equal, of drafting a cornerback. If we're in win now mode and need a player to make an impact immediately, where is Rhodes gonna play? How often did our 4th corner see the field last year?

That is my sense as well, I just don't see a rookie play ahead of Champ, DRC and Harris unless they are planning to move Champ to FS and nobody knows about it yet. It would also mean they have given up on Bolden ever being anything.

I can't shake the notion that DE, MLB and RB are the positions they will be focusing on.

Not to mention Tony Carter. I agree that DE, LB, and RB probably are the most important. I guess safety might make sense too.

If you think Rhodes would be our 4th corner for even 5 minutes, pass that ****.

Most of that list indicates that they are looking for a CB in the middle rounds. I don't see them passing on Rhodes. I do not see Rhodes not being drafted by the time the 20th pick rolls around either. Trufant might be available but not Rhodes.

Then what would he be? Did they sign DRC for 4 mil to pull a tracy porter?

Our 4th corner back to start the year was Carter, he played a lot. Also we don't have many CBs under contract moving forward. Win now mode does not trump the future period.

He played a lot because Porter got hurt. Obviously, drafting for the future is never a bad thing, I wouldn't cry about Rhodes, but I dont see how its drafting to "win now"

Who would he supplant? I highly doubt he would beat out Bailey or Harris, unless Bailey just falls apart. Economics say DRC is going to be given every benefit of the doubt since he's making $5 million this season.

There's no way the Broncos pass on Rhodes if he's there at 28, which he won't be.

How would drafting a CB prevent us from winning now?

The argumentation against drafting a premier corner with an early selection in this draft is not only myopic, but mind-boggling.

DRC only gets extended if he proves his worth. Harris and Carter (IRC) are both FA at the end of this season as well. I have hopes for Bolden, but there is no doubt he can be upgraded upon and has a lot to prove. If one of these guys goes down, we are SOL. Bailey is a HOF guy and will play out his contract here, but we don't have anyone on the roster that profiles as a true #1 moving forward. Rhodes and Trufant do -- and while I believe we would have to move up for them, if they were there, it is a no brainer. They are easily BPA, IMHO.

Yeah, question is likely moot since he is likely going in top 20 somewhere.

The two CBs that I'm seeing most often with late first round grades we would have a shot at are DJ Hayden and Jamar Taylor. Do you like either of those guys, Rev?

The only complications I see with taking a CB @ #28 is where we find a good PRS.

CB, S, MIKE, RB, DE. Top four priorities, IMO.

WR, OL, DT depth. We only have 6 picks. Gotta get more.

it wouldnt. And i wouldnt be against it. I just wonder what role he'd play on the 2013 Broncos. My whole point is, all things being equal, why take the corner. If he's the best player on the board, so be it.

I like Hayden a bunch but I'm not personally convinced he won't die (FYI: I have ZERO medical background). Taylor's too meh. I'd rather grab someone with mega upside like Alford or a great system fit like Poyer later.

BPA at those spots. We've still got 8 million and a free agent market laden with actual Hall of Famers if we need to fill further roster holes.

There are about 12 corners in this draft who would be upgrades over Carter and Bolden immediately. And I like me some Tony Carter. Carter will never profile as a starter and Bolden's limit is a #2.
