This year I took a little different tact. Instead of going for the highest rated players left from various draft boards, I only bid on players who I know visited or actually worked out for the Patriots regardless of draft rank status. We'll see how many of them they actually sign IRL.
That's interesting, because I thought you had the oddest UDFA haul of all -- I'd never heard or read of any of the players above, except for Kovacs, and none of them were ranked very highly by any of the media outlets.

Fascinating tactic, eddie mac -- will be interesting to see if A) the Patriots sign any of them; and B) if any of them end up having a pro career of any consequence.

Emory Blake and Xavier Brewer. Two guys I had rated the highest on my board left, glad to have gotten them.

Damn you Medatior on Jake Knott! A few others snuck me out on some high caliber guys. Great work.

Whoever got the Stanford TE just made out like a bandit too.

THANKS EVERYONE.

I KNEW I should have taken Conner Vernon with the last pick in the draft. And, Ludo greatly outspent me for TJ Moe. So, no great white hope at WR for INDY

Man, I feel like a rookie OM drafter right now. I just failed to show up this year fellas. A lot had to do with the great overselection of talent in the mid rounds, and leaving awesome value at QB and RB where I did not need it. Not being able to trade back at #24, and missing the sweet spot in the draft from 20-75 did not help either, especially at CB. CBF1 grabbing DJ Hayden and Cornellius Washington where he did hurt, as Both were major targets I thought would fall in the OM draft. Then, trying to get a few other guys I miscalculated a lot on their OM values relevant to their true values.

Oh well, you get what you put into it, and I seriously have been slacking in film room and target selection work this year as I have been crazy busy working and Coaching. Still way fun

I have an idea...you can shoot it down, but since we have 2 weeks left we should do a second round of udfa bids with the money we have left...any interest

Great idea Jebures. For this year. I'm down.

What is probably more feasible for coming seasons though is that anyone with leftover money can "sign" free agents on a first come, first serve basis after the results of the Free Agent Round have been posted. All remaining players would cost $5000.

Of course, all teams that missed the first round don't get to participate.

That takes some of the burden off Bowlen in terms of PM'ing team owners and requiring they participate in a second round, and gives the "losers" of the Free Agency period the ability to at least sign some guys. It also should fit in with the spirit of the NFL, since most NFL teams bring in a large number of UDFAs.

How would we determine the order. If Bowlen or JCMElay doesn't have the time, I could replicate Bowlen's rules and assist myself, I would like an hour or so's notice so I can pm my picks to someone to keep things fair.

Thought I could get Brewer because not many people knew about him. FYI-Xavier is the son of former Bronco player and GW High alum Chris Brewer.

sounds harder to do an order based round, why not just give everyone another 100k, voting opens on Tuesday and ends Saturday at midnight again?

Don't like that idea at all. Giving another 100k and doing it over. While it would be fun, it wouldn't help the owners that got outbid in the first round. I like the idea that you have 100k (period) to bid on UDFAs. If we do another round, it should be the amount that is remaining from Round 1, with all teams that did not participate not allowed to partake in this extra round.

I think though, for this year, we should do whatever Bowlen and Elway want with respect to another bidding round. They've really put time into running the game, so if it's ended here, it's ended here.

I do like that idea, some would have quite a bit of $ to spend, I'm down for either just using the un-used cash from the previous round or giving everyone another 50k + whatever is left from the previous round and see if anyone can pick up some remaining gems. Some teams, however, have 15-20 players already from this mock/udfa round, talk about a ****-ton of bodies for camp!
