Default Miller takes step to mature

Quote:
Denver star linebacker Von Miller aims to return to the team following his six-game drug suspension a more mature, responsible individual, according to sources close to the player, including having his parents move in with him in Denver.
This part in particular caught my eye:

Quote:
Miller isn't seen as a bad kid by any stretch, but clearly he has issues with maturity and responsibility. He's been known to show up to the wrong meeting at the team facility or show up late despite being inside the facility, with details sometimes slipping his mind

Good for him. It sounds like it's more the people around him noticing that he's about to **** up his career and stepping on to make sure that doesn't happen. Whatever it takes though.

Von messed up, von is paying for it, he's apologized. It looks/sounds as though he's taken steps to correct it. Time to move on. If he has anything else major in the future move on. We live in the land of second chances let him have his

Agreed... especially the bolded part. Don't get taking shots at him in response to an article about steps being taking to help him mature and take responsibility. I'm rooting for the guy to take those and every Bronco fan should be too.

First time I've heard moving back in with parents equates to maturity. Can't even get to a meeting while in the same building? I think I've underestimated his stupidity.

Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Well he's got to do what he's got to do. I'm sure mom will kill the party.

I hope Von can right the ship, dominate on D again, and stack millions.

Good for him, he's a 24 year old kid who's made the concious decision to take life seriously. It's easy to pile on contempt from our recliners, but its important to remember Von Miller is still a young man. I've mentored a lot of guys who have taken years to 'get it', and when they do its night and day for them. Many of them look back on the way they used to do things, or the things they used to do and can't believe they lived that way. Von's taking the steps in the right direction and as long as he takes this opportunity seriously, which it seems he is, he will come out of this as a better person. To me this is incredibly encouraging.

It's not idiocy, it's being enabled and given everything he wants, having his mistakes covered up or spun, and no accountability for most of his life so far.

He's in the midst of a firebath of personal accountability right now - he'll either wash out or get it under personal control.

I think it will be the latter.

Good. They're mature enough to keep him from ****ing up and ruining his career and tons of money. I like this.

Can't wait to see him on the field for week 7 kicking ass.

Why did pops let him drive then? Maybe he didnt know his son had a suspended? I'm hoping he didnt know, but its hard not to know when a month before he knew his son was arrested on traffic warrants. Hell, Von may be so scatter brained that he didnt know his license was suspended after the August arrest.

While a lot of this **** that has come down on his is clearly a result of just bad decision making, these anecdotes indicate he may be a bit scatterbrained / ADD or something. That doesn't excuse the drug issue, but it certainly lines up with his traffic ticket issue. Now that mom is there to pack his lunch, no more excuses!

It does help explain why he got benched at times during games for not knowing what he was supposed to be doing. He does have a lot of growing up to do and should seriously look in investing in hiring a driver.

I'm glad he's finally realizing there's a major problem. As some have said he is still young and I'm hoping mom help's him not just keep his appointments but shows him a way to do it himself. What has sparked this, I believe, is Von is finally suffering consequences for his actions. Good. I, too, cannot wait to see him back with the Broncos, because it's a good thing for the Broncos.

I was pretty hard on him, this is a turning point for the young man. If he didn't face adversity it wouldn't change. I just don't get the people who have refused to hold him accountable from a fans perspective. Its called tough love.

Sounds like a good idea. The kid has gone from being a potential DPOY and 100 million dollar contract to a blunt away from a year suspension. Time to have Mom put him in check.

That's what I was thinking. Sometimes, if not all the ime, the use of drugs pulls you away from reality...

Dude obviously needs some structure in his life and his parents and the team are helping him get some structure.

It doesn't sound like Von Miller is a bad kid....dumber than a bag of Doritos maybe, but not a punk ass thug or anything like that.

While I think Von needs to grow up and is a bonehead for getting suspended, etc.....I have no problem with him moving his parents in with him to keep himself in check. Terrell Davis moved his mom to Denver too, mainly because he loved and missed her, but also to make sure he never turned into a dumbass.

We all hope Von gets his head out of his ass before he ends up being suspended for a year.
