Default An Uplifting Message from David Stockman

These policies have brought America to an end-stage metastasis. The way out would be so radical it canít happen. It would necessitate a sweeping divorce of the state and the market economy. It would require a renunciation of crony capitalism and its first cousin: Keynesian economics in all its forms. The state would need to get out of the business of imperial hubris, economic uplift and social insurance and shift its focus to managing and financing an effective, affordable, means-tested safety net.

All this would require drastic deflation of the realm of politics and the abolition of incumbency itself, because the machinery of the state and the machinery of re-election have become conterminous. Prying them apart would entail sweeping constitutional surgery: amendments to give the president and members of Congress a single six-year term, with no re-election; providing 100 percent public financing for candidates; strictly limiting the duration of campaigns (say, to eight weeks); and prohibiting, for life, lobbying by anyone who has been on a legislative or executive payroll. It would also require overturning Citizens United and mandating that Congress pass a balanced budget, or face an automatic sequester of spending.

It would also require purging the corrosive financialization that has turned the economy into a giant casino since the 1970s. This would mean putting the great Wall Street banks out in the cold to compete as at-risk free enterprises, without access to cheap Fed loans or deposit insurance. Banks would be able to take deposits and make commercial loans, but be banned from trading, underwriting and money management in all its forms.

It would require, finally, benching the Fedís central planners, and restoring the central bankís original mission: to provide liquidity in times of crisis but never to buy government debt or try to micromanage the economy. Getting the Fed out of the financial markets is the only way to put free markets and genuine wealth creation back into capitalism.

That, of course, will never happen because there are trillions of dollars of assets, from Shanghai skyscrapers to Fortune 1000 stocks to the latest housing market ďrecovery,Ē artificially propped up by the Fedís interest-rate repression. The United States is broke ó fiscally, morally, intellectually ó and the Fed has incited a global currency war (Japan just signed up, the Brazilians and Chinese are angry, and the German-dominated euro zone is crumbling) that will soon overwhelm it. When the latest bubble pops, there will be nothing to stop the collapse. If this sounds like advice to get out of the markets and hide out in cash, it is.

Quick someone call him a traitor and a coward after all isn't that what you do when someone tells you an unpleasant truth.

I have been suffering your insults for years to bring you this very message, all the while praying enough would wake to reign in the banksters.

Why is it that nobody never questions the fact that The Federal Reserve (a private bank) is the entity that prints the money and loans it to the US government at interest.

A Sovereign nation should print it's own money and until the USA takes that privilege back from the fed there will be no fixing this mess.

It's certainly a persuasive argument. One wonders if he is not too steeped in Coolidge conservatism, but then again, the pragmatist in me wonders if this recipe Stockman lays out is not what we need. Maybe what this country needs is an abolition of party and the dissolution of ideology. Perhaps we should all just become pragmatists and do what is best for our country, our fellow man, and for our posterity...

Nahhhhh!

I think you have a persecution complex. I don't remember insulting you ever, only some of your ideas. What Stockman lays out above is nothing like the lunacy you get from Alex Jones and Ickes.

I didn't mean you personally Ro but many others sure did respond the way I said.

Actually Jones' guests say the very same things as does Jones himself. Yes he is over the top sometimes which does taint his message but the basic information is nearly identical to Stockman's.

I think that it would be ignorant to believe that the fed controlled economic issues aren't deliberate and that they don't already have a solution in place for when the collapse does occur. And while people like Alex Jones and David Icke have a lot more insight into the reality of the control of human consciousness, they could still very easily be apart of the propaganda for a new world order and the future control of human consciousness. I prefer to try and find information that's not based in fear.

These people know very well how to control human consciousness. They've been doing it quite a long time. Food, water, energy, clothing, health care, education, marketing, religion, science, etc. The evidence is all over the place, everything is backwards from progress. They know us better than we know our selves. They know when it all falls apart we'll be looking for a new truth. Why wouldn't they be leading the movement that exposes the old world order? After all they're the ones trying to create a new world order, do they not need to bring down the old one first?

Having said that, I believe people like Alex Jones are contributing far more valuable information to humanity than the big business controlled main stream media.

I have considered this as well. The bottom line, intended or unintended, Jones and Icke are providing a service to the elites, that is they will serve to instigate a rebellion of sorts but all it will serve as is an invitation to the would be controllers to put down hard the "insurgents' than it is on. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. I have thought that is why guys like Jones and icke are allowed to live and spread their fear based message.

But like you point out we still get the info. I watch jones because of his quests and I like following the flow of the process. I don't buy into the fear because it serves not. My plan is to focus on my Spiritual connection because that is what is real and what I CAN do.

You want to know why they are not afraid of people like Jones & Icke?

Lol.

Ron Paul talks about this for 30+ years, some ****-4-brains over at NYT writes an article, and liberals call it uplifting.

Rage-in-the-machine posts again. Haven't your keepers figured out a medication balance for you yet? Anyway, any possibility the word "uplifting" was used sarcastically? Dumbass.

Ron Paul is an idiot.

I listed the points from the OP that Ron Paul would agree with. However, hiding out in gold is much better than hiding out in federal reserve notes during the monetary crisis.

But the Paulites like to pretend that he is the only one on the planet who has ever thought of these things. He isn't. We have become a corporate state. There are a whole lot of Americans who can't stand the stink of that. And the majority of them would not, and did not, support Paul in a national election.

Yeah. If I wanted to learn anything about economics, why would I go and listen to some Nobel Prize winning economist when I could consult with an obstetrician from Galveston, Texas instead?

You mean the award winning economist who won a Nobel, the same organization who gave your boy Obama a prize for dropping bombs on women and children. Or are you talking about the Krugman who said there would be no death panels for Obamacare, then last month was caught on video saying by 2025 there would be panels, because we wouldn't have the money. I can see why you like him, talks out both sides of his face just like you.

Don't try and talk politics to me you old mare. You are a spineless coward, a b****, I feel for your kin.

And you're a young and ignorant punk who believes deeply but without engaging his brain and is obviously so filled with rage that you probably couldn't discuss the price of milk without throwing furniture around. I'm guessing somebody wasn't very nice to you. Some baby boomer, maybe? Rage on, moron.

Libertarianism isn't a political philosophy. It's a cult. Which is why its ranks are filled with militia extremists, racists, 911 conspiracists, UFOers, Luddite survivalists and morons. Which one are you? I'm sure that the ease with which you lump people into groups by age also crosses over into other broad categories as well. What other groups of people can't you put up with? How many other groups of human beings are you better than?

No comment on your uncontrollable rage?
