When something is out of your comfort zone, that means you're weak there and that's where you need to improve.

Bite off more than you can chew, and chew it.

Do this, and not only will you become indispensable to your company, you'll find opportunities open up that you never expected.

Stay in school and get a diploma
If you are getting a secondary education, have a job at the same time
Remember the job is not about you and you are replaceable
If you have kids, you are job ready. Set an example
If you separate/divorce the other parent of your child, do not complain about not getting child support unless you are working to support that child yourself.
Stop making excuses.
Life is about choices, yours

Be an ACTIVE participant in your 401k plan. Understand what you're doing, do not let someone else (a friend) give you advice without reseraching that advice first!

Software startups:

Meetings are toxic
Make half a product not a half assed product
Never write down customer suggestions. The really important one will come back to you over and over
I'd rather sell to the Fortune 5 million than the Fortune 500
Planning is just guessing. Don't waste time sticking to a failing plan. Be flexible to change course
Scratch your own itch. Do it yourselve before you hire someone else to do it for you that way you know what to look for
Work smart not hard. Going home at 5 is OK

Always have a signed contract on anything you sell, even if you’re selling a home to your brother-in-law………. who’s nickname is now ”the squatter”

Customer Services Manager - Property Management

The customer may be an a-hole but if you can solve their problem they will come back to you.

When dealing with people on the phone always have whatever you have agreed confirmed in writing so nothing can be lost in translation.

Always be busy or always have something on the back burner to keep busy with if the boring job comes up.

Hmm... how about something from my old job:

All those people you see trading millions of dollars on the stock market?

I'd say about half of them have very little idea what they're doing.

The marketplace can and will sway to hearsay and rumor. Betting on banks is a lot like playing poker. If you don't have investments but want to make money, buy stocks during recessions and wait for them to rebound.

It depends on the degree. If your job requires credentials, of some kind, then you have to go through with it...

Take out loans until you are in debt to your ears to get that prestigious liberal arts degree in bitterness studies. Totally worth it.

Not making a decision is worse then making the wrong one and no matter how much you attempt to reduce risk, some drunk 18 year old will figure out how to **** it up.

I'm just a surgeon so take my advice with a grain of salt... but I would compare what the typical graduate from your specific program makes vs the amount of debt you will incur. It's a crazy thought, I know.

Never design a home w/out having a good realtor/appraiser review your plans.

Sell euros every 4 - 6 months...use peaks to recognize sell opportunities.

Name everyone and every entity in your lawsuit.

Play the sportsbook in Vegas...it is the best odds around and fun to exercise your sporting IQ while enjoying a game.

Don't ever buy a home for more than 78% of last list price.

Buy a home within a price range that you can easily lease within 3 years. Lease at 1.3 - 1.5 the amount of your mortgage payment.

Learn or commit to memory important information in the morning - your mind is clear and information easily absorbed.

Get a second opinion before going into surgery.

Call you mom - she's worried about who you've become swearing at that nice man Ray Lewis 2-3 times a year and ON SUNDAYS!

I suggest you spend at least 10 years of your life as a hard core piss your pants alcoholic. This will teach you humility and compassion for others like no other experience.

Because it is through the crystal clear window of humility and compassion that you finally see your own true nature...

Don't call 911 because the arm, stomach, leg, back, ear, toe, cuticle, or whatever pain you've had for the past several days, weeks, or whatever is now a little worse and you've decided that it is suddenly an emergency at 3AM.
