The Ravens have delivered a contract offer to Dumervil, according to two NFL sources. However, the sources say the Broncos have offered slightly more money in the early portion of the deal.

The Broncos’ money has tightened because of a $4.89 million dead-money, salary-cap hit they absorbed while releasing Dumervil last week, so re-signing Dumervil likely would mean releasing a player or two off their roster.

The point here is most posters kept saying Doom was worth his contract and we are retarded to think he wouldn't get more then the others out there on the market. Now we are finding out is he might not even be worth the offer he was minutes away from getting. Why do you think that is? We have paid him a TON along with Champ and the team gain has been far less then what we have paid for don't you think?
Part of it is the market has dried up. He should just sign a year year deal and then next year hit FA from day one.

I think Von and Elvis' relationship is one aspect fans aren't accounting for in this equation. Doom has taken Vin under his wing since we drafted him, and its obviously meant a lot to Von.

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 7h Sounds like the DE party (Abraham, Freeney) has concluded in Denver. My understanding is it's more due diligence in case Dumervil leaves.

Wrong. For some reason, you think it's guaranteed the Seahawks are going to cut Avril in 2014...which is laughable. It's a 2 year $13M deal. Avril is getting $6M this year, and probably $7M next year (if he's not cut). Sounds fair to me, and not at all over-priced.

6 plus 5 is 11.

Avril is due a $7 million base salary in 2014, $5 million of which is currently guaranteed for injury only. On the fifth day of the 2014 waiver period, which begins the day after Super Bowl XLVIII, the $5 million in base salary will become fully guaranteed. Avril's cap number in 2014 is currently scheduled to be $9.25 million.

If he is cut he doesn't get that money you tard.
You're the one that said "Cliff Avril is only making 3.75 million dollars next season." If he gets cut after one year, did he only make $3.75, even though he got paid $6? Or do you want to play it both ways? They also take a dead money hit if they cut him the day after the super bowl. Seems unlikely. In any case, you're looking at a one-year cap hit figure in a multi-year deal and saying "that's all he's getting paid" even though there's no possible way that's all he's getting paid in the real world.

Who do they cut then price? Chris Clemons who counts 9.66 million, Cliff Avril who counts 9.25 or Red Bryant who counts 8.5 million?

I'm guessing Clemons will be cut this year (because he blew out his knee)...that's why they acquired Avril.

His dead money is no big deal, they got money to blow.

So bottom line this. Is Elvis getting $8MM from the Ravens or not?
He went from $12 MM to $8MM to who knows what

Sounds like his agent probably did get him a valid deal from Denver to begin with
and if the deal did not change since 11:00am last Friday this is all on Elvis

In a game where money is status he's the laughingstock of the NFL right now for his faxgate fiasco

That's a good point. At least he knows many of the faces in the Broncos locker room. That joking and interaction is likely to be innocuous stuff. ow, if he signs with another team and has to try and fit in a new environment, that might not be as fun/joking matter.
