This is very serious as that means Doom's signing bonus just got added to this years cap. I have no idea if they can even sign him now. What a huge huge huge (and embarrassing) **** up.

@JeffDarlington
Wild stuff on Dumervil right now: It's clock management. Agent made a "colossal mistake," source says, by not getting signed contract faxed.

What a mess in Denver. They must have filed the Welker contract and gone over the cap. So Elvis has left the roster.

Schefter confirming.

Elvis Dumervil's contract not filed with NFL in time. Dumervil released, as Denver Post released.

Ya how can he be released when those papers aren't even filled out? Doesn't that mean this years salary goes into effect?

They released him right at the deadline... sounds like the agent didn't get the thing signed in time.

I think the agent was playing a game.

Dare I say, that agent is going to lose many future customers over something like this. What a huge F'up

Hmm, so the agent was like, "Yeah, we'll take the new deal, hang on, I'll fax it right over in a bit" with hopes of sending it in a minute late and going "whoops, sorry about that, guess the 12 million is now guaranteed".

if there's no deadline, things would never get done. it's the agents fault that this happened. **** him, hopefully Broncos make it known that they won't do business with him again.

There's got to be a way to file a grievance with the league. This is ****ing bull****.

I think that the agent may have been trying to sneak this past the Broncos.

1. Wait until the very last moment to agree to the deal.
2. Sit on the paperwork
3. Hope the Broncos neglect to actually release him in the confusion.

At that point he would have received the full $12 million dollars.

Thankfully Elway and company pulled the trigger in time.

Either that or Magid got a late call from Belichick with a better offer...
