No not really. The Eagles didn't have a young core to their roster. The Broncos are loading up for a run, but that's where the similarities stop. The Broncos added pieces on a short term run oriented bases (Welker 2yrs, Knighton 2 years, DRC 1 yr) while the Eagles stacked themselves up with cap heavy long term deals that didn't pan out. The only negative in the Brincos future is a broken promise to Peyton Manning.

Outside of the newly aquired free agents, Manning, and Bailey (assuming they both retire), who do we lose in the next two years that will cripple this team. Oz will step in for Manning (we will see how that plays out), they will need to replace Bailey, and we can draft for the positions we know will be vacated in the upcoming years.

We're poised for a run, and in perfect position to reload with young talent in the next two drafts, is there a better position to be in?

Add to that the fact that we will have the luxury of developing our drafted personnel.

An NFL source has said we're now tapped out capwise basically but obviously that doesn't include the Elvis restructure/release or what we do with Mays or Kuper.

Dumervil, Mays, Kuper and a few other guys who are going to get the cut once the final roster is set and we will be having 4-5 rookies taking their spots. We are just fine.

It makes you wonder what the hold-up is with releasing Mays and Kuper. It's pretty clear they aren't going to be on the final roster at those salaries and their replacements signed. Maybe they are trying to convince them to take pay-cuts and stick around for depth?

Yeah, I guess if you can get them to stay at close to their dead money amount you consider keeping them.

I don't think they have to cut anyone to sign a RB......it seems like a down year for most FA's this year.

I'm holding out hope Kuper stays. He was an alternate to the pro bowl and only played 5 games. He's better than Beadles.

I think he will too but I reckon we'll be looking to at least half that base salary he's on this year, given the amount of time he's spent on the sidelines in recent times.

Yup, his base is $4.5. His cap number is $5.4+. Dead money if cut is $2.7+. Maybe if you can get his salary to something close to that dead money number you keep him. Is he going to have a better option than say $2.75 from Denver?
