It really depends on the contract. If Mendenhall comes at a reasonable price then I like the signing, if not then I'm not sure I agree with this. Mendenhall is fast, he clocked a 4.45 forty at the combine but he has some issues holding onto the ball and he has only had 2 good seasons out of 4. But regardless, if the Broncos sign him to a cap friendly contract it will be a nice addition IMHO.

I'm not huge on this, but he has had some productive years. A change of scenery might do him well. A strong running and can get tough yards. If this allows WM or KM to be expendable, so be it. I doubt the team picks up Knowshon's option for 2014 anyways.

If this is a relatively low $ contract then fine. But if they're paying this guy then I just don't get it. Health issues and character issues? Why would you want that?

I am waiting for Douchecow to chime in with how this would affect Madden, or how he performed in Madden previously. And for that to be reported on IAOFM.

he tore his ACL in week 17 of the 2011 season, and then struggled recovering from that and an achilles injury in 2012. he obviously aint no Mr. Peterson (insert Vietnamese kid voice here) but if he is healthy he might be a nice suprise.

Not exciting. If we keep enough guys who are constantly hurt will we have one healthy enough to win the Division and Conference Championship games?

That inspires zero confidence. Hell, just because Manning nursed Addai along all those years doesn't mean we can't look at more talented guys FFS.

Free agent Rashard Mendenhall is "en route" to visit the Cardinals.
It throws cold water on the notion that he's about to sign with Denver, as players often never leave visits. The Cardinals also have a major need at running back, and new coach Bruce Arians knows Mendenhall well. Mendy could easily make the desert his new home. |

Broncos may be looking at all options. They probably put a value on all FA then see if they can make a deal. Mendenhall still young enough to take a chance on just like Moreno would be for some team if we cut him. Coaches always feel they can coach out fumbling issues etc. If we went with a b level runner like Mendenhall, then don't draft one with a high pick, that probably means they think Hillman still gets better and becomes a big contributer to the offense.
I'd like a better RB then Mendenhall but with our oline hopefully improving we could run better just from that. |

I don't think Mendenhall is a back Denver can count on when they need him....and Denver already has a few backs like that on the roster right now.
I've no doubt Mendenhall is capable of some nice 100+ yard games, as he's done it before.....but so are McGahee and Knowshon, as they've done it before. Denver needs a back who will be there in January when they have to play against the big boys when it counts. |

I am not aboard with this if it happens. 1 great game in college does not make him a great pro.

Man I hope the Cardinals sign him. If he signs here I won't lie. I'll hope he tears something. I don't want to root for this punk.
