Former Chiefs right tackle Eric Winston has announced via Twitter that he has been released. And a former teammate has said, also on Twitter, that he won’t be taking Winston’s spot in the starting lineup. Chiefs retooling the oline. |

Seems kinda crazy considering he was touted as the best RT in the NFL a season ago. Guess there are some kinda injury concerns with Winston but still didn't really expect it. Since Albert doesn't want to play left tackle (deservingly so, he'd get paid much less at right tackle), have to assume KC wants to bring in a Right Tackle early in the draft or in free agency.
Just to get an idea of how bad Pioli was, I dunno if they have a single free agent left from their 2012 signings that made any impact at all (Routt, Winston, Hillis were the main 3 I believe) |

I don't think Winston was ever best RT in the NFL. He may have been best RT available in FA the yr the Chiefs signed him. They probably overpaid for him and now can't afford what he's making. Or maybe he's just not very good. Or it could be your theory that he is all banged up? Who knows.
Cheifs may draft the top LT and have him play RT for a yr or so? Or maybe they are drafting whoever they feel is the top Dlineman? |

Move Winston to RT, Franklin to guard and cut Kuper.

Winston has had the injury issues since college. Pass on him. Plenty of beef on the OL in this draft.

But I thought Winston was part of kFc's great OL!
![]() Now they need to find a RT, 2 G's, and a C. All in one year. They lost Lilja to retirement, their G's were hurt and teh suck, and they now have what is sounding like a disgruntled LT who refuses to move to RT when they draft a better LT. |
