Thanks baja.
As a good Red Sox fan that has gone thru a lot of pain over the years following my team, I can tell you that even though a victory felt in the air all day for me, and being comfortably ahead mid-way thru, I never got up my couch or celebrated until the last out in the 9th. That's how it is, now I can celebrate this special moment!

I was a major BoSox fan and lived through the Buckner series, barely.

I remember that, like it was yesterday, that was eerie, spooky, I started to believe at that point, the curse was for real, you couldn't explain that one away...

Nice job Red Sox.
Although I really hate how the media is trying to spin it as a surprise the Red Sox won after finishing last the year before. It just goes to show how decent managing is needed in baseball, as well as staying healthy.

And a top five payroll. 17 of the last 18 world series winners are top 15 in payroll.

So **** baseball.

Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox. They hit the ball when they needed to and the Cardinals couldn't hit at all. Good pitching wins always!

It WAS a surprise. Most supposed experts had them finishing last again.

And they suffered a ton of injuries this year. Buchholz missed half the year. Papi missed a bunch of time, as did ellsbury. Uehara was their FOURTH closer. I could go on.

Agree. Sawx were a mess last year. Many of their offseason acquisitions were laughed at, and yet most of them worked out perfectly for them. Will be interesting to see if this team is a "one year wonder" or if they can compete at this level again. They definitely had some guys overperform.

There is going to be a lot of turnover so I don't expect them to repeat but they should be playing for WC spot.

I fully expect the Seattle Mariners to win 110 games next year and get their first World Series.

I think the Cards were just too tight-assed for their own good. At that level, you have to find a way to stay loose. Like Tom Watson always said about golf, the last thing he checked before a swing in a big tournament was the tension in his forearms. Tighten up too much and you're ****ed. Watching this WS, I just thought the Cards were too tightly wound. The Bosox stayed loose.

I have to agree with you, Boston showed fire and St. Louis looked dazed and confused.

Boston winning only means one thing to me...Broncos must win the superbowl.

In all seriousness, they have a great team and deserve the rings they have. I enjoyed learning more about their club during the series...they have managed the team really well to get here w/out paying out to mediocrity.

The Tigers have told teams that they're open to trading either Max Scherzer or Rick Porcello, according to Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com...

Shin-Soo Choo and Carlos Beltran are targets 1 and 1A for the Yankees, a person familiar with their thinking tells Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. Fellow outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury sits a hair behind the other two stars.

Seriously. That one caught me by surprise. It's not like they're a team that is in full rebuild mode and needs to deal their one big chip for a handful of draft picks/players.

I'll be curious to see who overpays for Ellsbury as well.

Detroit Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer has won the 2013 American League Cy Young Award.

Scherzer, who finished 21-3 with a 2.90 ERA in 32 starts, received 28 of 30 first-place votes. Scherzer led the majors in wins, finished second in strikeouts (240) and third in WHIP (0.97).

Ellsbury one of my favorite players wants to test the market and his agent, Scott Boras is seeking a nice pay day, so most likely he won't re-sign with Boston, so the trade may be off the table...
On the other hand, we've still got Middlebrooks...
