Possibly thinking his bullpen can hold up a 4 run lead and possibly bring Max back on 3 days rest. If he continues to pitch and they sweep the first 2 games, he probably doesn't have to go on a 3 day rest.

Cardinals can't hit a lick. They lose the first game in LA.

John Jay can't catch and Cards are getting blanked...good job of pitching by Dodgers B squad. It's like these teams traded places.

Missing Craig badly. And Jay may have to go this winter.

So that puts the Cards up 3-0. Going to be hard to come back from that, basically trotting out Greinke twice and Kershaw once to get a good chance.
Who would think John Jay would dismantle Waino's efforts.

Yes good point - Jay has a lot of work to be done in the offseason...I hope he can develop into something more consistent.

Great game by the Dodgers! I was impressed by their ability to bounce back. We might have a series here.

Question to those living in California.
Does anyoe have a link where I can listen to a Dodgers game called by Vin Scully?
I'm not a Dodgers fan by no means, but I'd love to hear a game on the radio or online by Vin Scully.
He's getting up there in age, but he's one of the best.
I do enjoy Vince calling a game...
Thanks in advance...

I like the Cardinals chances of coming back to STL with a 3-2 lead and only need one game to advance.

New series rule...only pinch hitters can hit homers.

Kozma tags out hijo de Punto.

Cardinals need a win from Kelly, Wacha, or Wainwright.

The formula seems to be a combination of meager offense, bone-thin bench, and dominant pitching by the very young...

Shouldn't be a problem. Dodgers won't take three in a row!

I've got my fingers crossed. Sure would be nice to have a 'happy flight' back to St Louis.

amazing...I couldn't believe it until I started thinking Holliday was 0-13, Carpenter blanked, and everyone else was under .100 for the series...

You have a cy young, and possibility of 4-5 others (near future) between these two squads. Dodgers are far from out at this point with the strength of their squad coming back into the series.

I don't like Nolasco - or the way they got him from the Marlins...he just isn't Dodgers material too me even though he is a SoCal product.

Nolasco this season faced the Cardinals twice, once as a Marlin on June 16 and once as a Dodger on Aug. 7. Across those two starts, Nolasco was very impressive: 12 IP, 1 ER, 9 K, 2 BB (he did, however, allow three unearned runs). Hitters presently on the Cardinal roster have teamed up to pretty much pound Nolaso across their careers: .340/.387/.458 in 157 plate appearances. The usual sample size caveats apply, but Carlos Beltran and Matt Holliday in particular have had their way with Nolasco.

Makes for a great strikeout king but still gives up too many runs...esp vs Cardinals.

Holliday Runs the ball out of the building:

Dodgers in the hole, doesn't look good. Cardinals play sound baseball and pitch really well. Greinke on the mound tomorrow, and hopefully we stave off elimination.

Verlander has to be on some kind of historic run for least amount of run support over multiple games. I almost feel bad for the guy. Almost.
